Writer's Links

Here's a list of cool writer's sites that I frequent.

Spider Robinson: I'm stealing someone else's line (Ben Bova's?) here, but if there is anything that might avert the destruction of mankind and promote peace on Earth it is to read the complete works of Spider Robinson.  After reading my first Spiderbook, "Time Pressure," I sat down and completed my first short story, "Time Flies."  So go here to get a start: www.spiderrobinson.com

Holly Lisle: One of the best dang writers of fantasy today.  She creates phenomenally well-rounded characters and then she causes them pain.  I was honored to be part of one of her on-line writer's group and recommend www.hollylisle.com for any readers of fantasy.  In addition, and more importantly IF YOU ARE A WRITER YOU COULD FIND YOUR WAY BY VISITING THIS SITE AND READING HOLLY'S TIPS FOR WRITERS!  She even gives away an e-copy of her how to write book "Mugging the Muse."  I read almost all of it in one night.  You can also sign up for "Visions" an e-zine for writers.

D.A. Houdek: Deb and I met online in 1992 on the Heinlein Forum and she convinced me to submit chapters of my first novel to the Galactic Citizen.  She was also instrumental in keeping a handful of writer's going in an online writer's group.  She included a poem of mine, Free to Fall, in "Earthscape," a PBS video with classical music set to Space Shuttle footage.  You can read some of her work and buy the video of "Earthscape" at www.dahoudek.com

Tobias Buckell: Toby is a distant cousin of mine and a fine up and coming writer of various indefinable stories of speculative fiction.  www.sff.net/people/torhyth/

Michael Calligaro: Mike is a good friend who happens to be giving away free fiction.  If you want to learn about page turning he wrote a year and half long daily serial.  It's all available at www.mystikeep.com.  If you enjoy his short fiction you can also purchase his fantasy novel "Implement of Destruction."

Mary Soon Lee: Go to this site to see what a real writer does.  Write, send out and receive rejections and acceptances. She also writes excellent short stories and poetry.   www.cs.cmu.edu/~mslee/mb.html

If you are interested in publishing in the fields of speculative fiction, check out the market guide at www.ralan.com. This amazing resource is updated regularly.
