Ancient and almost forgotten legends tell of a place in the far north, near the meeting of the Silver Marches and Anauroch wasteland, where one may find portals leading all over Toril and beyond. The legendary Nexus is believed to be a fanciful myth and none of its seekers in the past thousand or more years have ever found it, well none who have found it have returned.
Lately the citizens of Silverymoon have heard tale of attacks to the east . Raids by goblins, orcs, trolls, giants, drow, and even shadowy spellcasters from Anauroch are quite common but these attacks are rumored to contain more unusual creatures. Zulkash, an old half-elven sage, believes that the Nexus has opened and is trying to find adventurers to seek the truth, stop the attacks, and save all of Toril
A group gathers at Zulkash’s home.
The group agrees to go out and search for the portal. Each person, except Envy is given 1000 GP for last minute supplies. Envy’s equipment is being returned to her and whatever else she needs Zulkash will provide it. He gives her a very old horse called Esmeralda. Since the group is not strong enough or powerful enough to close the portal. The group is to return and inform Zulkash of its exact location. Zulkash will gather a group powerful enough to close the portal. Zulkash gives the group a brazier which can cast Leomund’s Tiny Hut.
Onyx goes out and buys an “Analyze Portal” scroll. She will need it in her spell list to help find the portal. Sundar can’t wait while Onyx examines the scroll and put it into her spellbook. He leaves with some friends to Sundabar. The rest of the group will travel when ready and meet Sundar in Sundabar. It will take Onyx 1 day to examine the scroll and 4 more days to transcribe into her spell list.
The group (minus Sundar) leaves for Sundabar. It is a sunny day. No problems. Stay at the Lusty Stag. Valentine exchanges entertainment for her lodging.
Drizzly day. Encounter a number of dead roth as well as bits and pieces of dead roth. Zaphod, the wild elf (originally from Chult) recognizes the tracks as being a dinosaur, in particular a Tyrannasaurus Rex. The rest of the group doesn’t understand dinosaur and in the end it is described as a really big, stupid, wingless dragon. We mention the problem to someone in the next village. The dead roth are probably from Elijah’s farm. He asks us to check out the farm and make sure Elijah and his family are OK. He has his son escort us to the farm. Note: Esmeralda, Envy’s horse refuses to take Envy to the farm and our guide has no horse. We decide to leave the horses behind and walk to the farm.
As we approach the front of the farm house, everything looks fine and quiet. We see no sign of the T-Rex. Onyx decides to send her familiar Poe (a raven) to do a quick aerial survey around the farmhouse. The bird flies toward the house and quickly returns. There is a T-Rex resting (sleeping?) behind the farmhouse. The boy leaves and returns to his father.
As the group tries to decide what to do, Envy sneaks up to the back corner of the house and casts fireball at the sleeping dinosaur. The rest of the group cannot see her, but hears a fireball going off. Envy either has a fireball wand or she is a wizard and can cast fireballs. Valentine runs toward the house. Zaphod moves to the edge of the forest and somewhat to his left for a clearer shot of the T-Rex. Onyx casts Improved Invisiblity on herself.
The T-Rex gets up and heads toward Envy with the thought of making a snack out of her. However, a second T-Rex comes out of the forest behind the house and proceeds to chomp on Envy and swallows her.
Onyx casts Fireball and places it between the two T-Rexes. Valentine moves to the side of the house. Zaphod shoots an arrow at T-Rex #2 (the one that swallowed Envy). Unseen by the others Envy casts Haste and Keen Edge while being digested by the T-Rex #2.
T-Rex #2 (which swallowed Envy) moves past Valentine and proceeds to where Zaphod is hiding in one of the trees. As the T-Rex passes Valentine she attacks it. Zaphod is bit, but is not swallowed as the T-Rex can only fit one medium size meal. T-Rex #1 moves and attacks Valentine. She is bitten, but not swallowed.
Zaphod retreats from the T-Rex in front of him. Onyx casts ball lightning and creates 2 balls of lightning, one to each T-Rex. Valentine attacks T-Rex #1. Envy attacks the T-Rex from within.
T-Rex #2 vomits up Envy and proceeds to move toward Onyx. The first T-Rex bites Valentine and swallows her.
Onyx continues to damage each T-Rex with the Ball Lighning. Zaphod casts airwalk on himself. Envy retreats to repair some of the damage done to her.
The first T-Rex regurgitates Valentine and then retreats into the forest behind the house. The second T-Rex bites Onyx, but fails to swallow her.
Zaphod and Envy attack T-Rex #2 as it retreats further into the forest area in front of the house. Onyx runs to the house. Onyx sees Valentine pick herself up and run after the first T-Rex #1.
Zaphod and Envy kill the second T-Rex. Onyx drinks a cure light wounds potion and then searches the house for any survivors. She finds none in the house. Valentine is chasing the first T-Rex.
The first T-Rex turns and bites Valentine nearly killing her (Fate point), but does not swallow her. Too much indigestion from the first time it ate her. Onyx eventually finds the farmer and his family in the root cellar. One of his children (a girl) was eaten by a T-Rex. Envy goes after Valentine, finds her and returns her to the farmhouse. Zaphod heals all of our wounds.
The farmer used to be a scout and helps us track the T-Rex that got away. We encounter it in a cul-de-sac. We climb up to one rim of the cul-de-sac and fire our weapons, Onyx does another ball lightning. We kill it. We escort the farmer and his family back to the village.
As it is only mid-afternoon we leave hoping to make it to the next in before nightfall. We arrive at the Lonesome Tankard near dusk. We are surprised at how few people are staying at the inn. The horses are stabled, but a short time later we find them outside and down a little way from the inn. We are told there is a curse on the place. Looking around we can find nothing. Envy with the owner’s help searches for possibly cursed items. The owner’s husband has recently died.
That night while resting Onyx starts thrashing. Despite attempts by the others to wake her up, she does not wake up. The others try to figure out what is happening. Envy remembering that Onyx had mentioned that the halfling had an alteration spell on her, thinks that maybe the halfling is the cause of Onyx’s thrashing. Envy remembers seeing two rooms which had smaller clothes, but she cannot remember which is the halfling’s room and which is the dwarf’s room. Checking one of the rooms, Envy encounters the dwarf. She finds him cross-legged and staring at the door. Talking to the dwarf, he thinks there is a night hag and was hoping that the night hag would come after him. Checking on Onyx, he can confirm that the night hag is on Onyx. She pulled Onyx’s soul into the ethereal plane (dreams). The dwarf’s name is Thorfin Spiritkiller. He had hoped it would come after him. He could have dealt with the night hag on her own terms. Searching for the halfling, no one can find her and she is not in her room. Thorfin tells Zaphod to memorize Restoration as Onyx will need it in the morning.
Onyx feels terrible because of the night hag. She has lost 1 pt. CON until Zaphod casts Restoration on her. A paladin and an elf show up at the inn. They are part of Thorfin Spiritkiller’s group. They will take care of the night hag. Since we are unable to handle the night hag, we decide to continue to Sundabar.
As we journey we encounter Sundar. He wondered what was taking so long and has journeyed from Sundabar to find us. We continue to Sundabar. About dusk we are stopped by a wall of fire. Four hobgoblins with short bows appear from the side of the road and demand our valuables. We all dismount.
Zaphod casts Prayer on our group. Onyx casts Protection from Arrows on herself. Valentine and Sundar move forward and attack the hobgoblins. Envy casts Haste and then Protection from Arrows.
Envy is flanked by a thief who has snuck up from behind. There is another thief on the other side and to our rear. We see the caster appear in the wall of fire and he casts fireball on Zaphod, Onyx and Envy who have not moved from the road. They survive, but Onyx’s horse and Valentine’s horse do not survive the fireball.
Onyx casts Dispel Magic on the caster and he casts Invisibility on himself and retreats behind the wall of flame. Sundar and Valentine kill the 4 hobgoblins and then go after the retreating thieves. Envy manages to kill one of the thieves to our rear. The other thief manages to get away as well as the caster. Envy acquires a +1 mithral shirt and 2 cure light wounds potions from the dead thief. On the hobgoblins we find 39GP, 26SP and 27CP. Each hobgoblin is wearing a chain shirt, and has a steel longsword, a shortbow and a dozen arrows. Zaphod trades in his mithral shirt for the +1 mithral shirt.
We double up and manage to reach Sundabar in a couple of hours. We end up at the Thirsty Whistle based on a recommendation that Envy got from a friend. There seem to be more vampires than usual. Onyx not feeling too well retires for the night. The rest of them soon follow.
Onyx and Valentine go clothes shopping. She needs winter gear. Since it is summer she did not think she needed her winter clothes. The others are searching for information. A ghost roth is big and could handle the mountainous terrain, but costs 1000GP.
That night Envy goes to a merchant’s home and robs it. She encounters Ravenous, a vampire, who does not stop her. All he wants is a cut of her haul. He is the head of one of the local thieves guilds. He warns her that there is something coming which is worse than vampires.
Ravenous talks to Envy at the tavern. We later find a piece of paper with some writing on it. Onyx (using her Comprehend Languages) determines it is Abyssal and it is a name. Asking around we discover it is the name of an ancient dragon/demon.
Hear talk about the Rusty Anvil, up there in the mountains. The entire town was wiped out. There are a lot of undead up there.
We end up buying 1 ghost roth (female) and a couple of mules (to replace the dead horses.) Onyx buys cold weather clothes.
Melody, Envy’s friend is not a vampire, but she won’t tell Envy what she is.
Leave Sundabar, heading eastward into the mountains. Drizzly and windy today. As day progesses it becomes less rainy and more windy. We stop at the Six Legged Dog Inn.
Lots of thunder, lightning, very rainy, sleet. Pot-bellied Pete, the proprieter is glad we are staying another day. All of the other merchants and miners are staying another day. Note: the inn does not appear as busy as usual. Onyx and Envy look at each others spell lists.
The day is bright and sunny. There is a light breeze. It is cloudy by the time we stop and make camp. There is no inn. We set up the brazier and activate the tiny hut. It is red with purple polka-dots. The barbarian, Sunder is horrified. He looks for another spot which is less conspicuous and reactivates the tiny hut there.
WATCHES (each watch lasts 4 hours).
Notes: Valentine and Sunder only need 2 hours of sleep. The others need 8 hours of rest for spellcasting.
Esmeralda nudges her way into the hut.
Cloudy and windy. We come to a small fork in the road and there is an inn, the Golden Spile Inn. It looks fortified. We decide to stop and have a meal (brunch) and do some information gathering before continuing onward.
Envy gets the ghost roth to jump. It’s a demonstration for the dwarven boy. The boy keeps the ghost roth in the courtyard, away from other animals and so it does not feel confined. The inn is run by Thorfin Bristlebeard, dwarf. We have goat stew and ale. Valentine gets some vodka and fiery wine(?), dwarven, for the road. Sunder hires a guide to get us to the Rusty Anvil. Tane, dwarf, relative of Thorfin, agrees to guide us to the Rusty Anvil. He is paid 16 GP. (2 GP/day). Tane has a war mule. We leave as soon as he is ready. When we set up the hut, it is green.
Lots of rain. We decide to stay in the hut. Envy and Onyx are copying a spell from each other’s spellbook.
Cloudy and windy. Rusty (Tane) knows of a good place to stay. It is his clan’s home.We stay at the Golden Pickaxe clan home.Rusty talks them into letting us use the tunnels.
Go through the tunnels and emerge that evening. We saved a few hours travel. Set up the hut. It is again a forest green.
Travelling. Sunny. When we set up the hut it is again green.
Sunny. It is getting to be more mountainous, fewer trees, more rock. The Rusty Anvil is about an hour away. We part company with Rusty and pay him the 2GP extra for the day spent in the hut. He’ll stay a few hours in case we need help.
As we get closer we can see the town. Onyx sends her raven, Poe, ahead to do a quick look at the town. The raven reports back that there is a lot of carrion in the town. As we get closer to the edge of the town, Envy’s horse stops and refuses to go any further. We leave the horses there and proceed on foot. We see a wood wall and a place where it has been physically broken through. The wood there is rotted. Some of the bodies look like they have been torn to pieces. The entire town feels wrong. We look around. The doors are rotted through. Some of the people look more decayed than the others. One building is more fortified, but looks to be more rotted. There are more bodies there that are closer to being skeletons. We think this is where they made their last stand.
Envy finds 3 gold nuggets. She estimates they are about 40-50GP total. Onyx concurs stating they are about 47GP.
We move back to where the horses are. We move a little bit further back than that to avoid the smell. Night falls and we set up the hut.
First Watch – Valentine notices that the town is glowing green. Envy eventually notices the sickly green glow and wakes up the group.
We go up to the palisade (wooden wall). Envy sneaks into town. She notices zombies, but they don’t see her. The rotted building is a little brighter, the sickly green glow pulses and is brighter. She notices a black figure coming through the wall (noncorporeal) with red pin points of light for eyes. She runs back to the group. It touches Envy, and is hurt by its touch. The cleric senses that this place has been desecrated. We hear this keening and the zombies and skeletons come to attack us. There are also a couple of noncorporeal figures heading toward us. The group easily handles the zombies and skeletons.
Zaphod manages to get one of the black figures to flee, but the other one goes to Onyx and touches her. More noncorporeal creatures attack us. Sunder has 3 shadows on him, Onyx has a wraith attacking her and Valentine has 1 shadow attacking her. We eventually are able to defeat them.
The group notices that some of the zombies and skeletons have some type of fungus on them. Onyx casts fireballs near the entrance and the group retreats. Zaphod heals our injuries, but Sunder’s temporary loss of strength will have to wait till morning when Zaphod can memorize and cast restoration on Sunder.
The group takes the bodies and gather them into a pile and burn them, destroying them. Note Envy is not around. Onyx checks her bird and it has a cough. Zaphod casts remove disease and the raven is feeling better. The raven had Corpse Cough. We do burials, blessings, etc. That night we notice that there is still a green glow.
Zaphod does a Sending and sends a message to Illustrial. She is not in Toril and it will take time to get a group of clerics to the village to get rid of the desecration. We decide to stay another day and look for the source of the desecration. As we excavate the main building Zaphod senses 5 undead below us. We eventually find a trap door, but decide not to go in until tomorrow, when we will have the proper spells memorized.
First watch - we feel a tremor in the ground. Something emerges from the ground; touches 2 trees and the trees crumple to dust. It is humanoid, greenish and has bat-like wings. It is an undead plant demon (blight demon). Envy and Valentine are on watch. Sunder is still awake. Zaphod feels the tremor and wakes up. Onyx is still resting.
Envy casts Haste then Shield. The demon attacks Sunder. Sunder’s short rots and boils develop on his skin. Sunder grabs his axe. Esmeralda (the old grey mare) leaves the hut. Envy casts displacement and attacks it and jumps back. Onyx wakes up. The demon attacks Sunder again and then attacks Valentine. Sunder attacks it. Zaphod stands and gets his bow out. Envy and Valentine attack it. Onyx casts Ball Lightning, but it fails to penetrate it. Zaphod casts Prayer. The demon casts Entangle. Only Onyx is initially entangled. The demon sinks into the ground and pops up in front of Onyx. It attacks Onyx. Onyx notices that it is moving faster (hasted?).
Everyone is trying to move, but it is difficult because of the entangle. Onyx manages to get her ball lightning to do it damage, but it attacks Onyx a couple more times and she goes unconscious. It grabs her and dives into the ground. (Fate point for Onyx) A couple of rounds later it still has not appeared back in the hut. Zaphod hears chanting coming from the town. The group heads for town. The others eventually hear the chanting.
The group (Sunder, Valentine, Envy and Zaphod) encounter 4 wights, a shadow, a specter, a morgue and a wraith. The specter attacks Envy and misses. Zaphod casts Bless. The wights attack Sunder. He is drained a level. The specter attacks Valentine and hits her for 28 pts.
The morgue attacks the cleric (Zaphod) with its tongue. Zaphod saves vs. paralyzation. Zaphod turns and the wights run.
Sunder loses another level and Valentine takes out the specter.
Morgue attacks Envy and misses. The shadow attacks Sunder. Valentine attacks.
Onyx wakes up and discovers she is in some kind of basement with the demon standing near her with a dagger and a beating black heart. Doing a quick inventory, Onyx is relieved that she still has her own heart and the heart the demon is holding is not hers. Onyx tries to wriggle out, but fails. She sees a wraith and a specter besides the demon.
Onyx screams and is heard by others in the group.
Sunder is attacked by a shadow and loses some strength. Sunder is paralyzed. The others in the group manage to get rid of the other undead. They put Sunder in a building and go off to rescue Onyx. Going to the building and to where the trap door is open. Zaphod casts spiritual weapon. They see the demon holding the black hear and a dagger. Valentine casts magic missile. The wraith attacks Valentine and the specter attacks the cleric. The wraith misses, but the specter hits the cleric. Valentine cuts a hand free on Onyx. Onyx grabs one of Valentine’s daggers and starts to cut her other hand free. The demon slices her with the dagger and holds Onyx down with the black heart. Onyx passes out fro the blood loss and the black heart sucks some of the blood out of her. (Fate point). The group takes out the demon and the other undead. They cannot figure out how to destroy the heart. It seems to have an infinite amount of blood. Cleric heals the group.
The group spends the day burying the heart. During the third watch that night, Zaphod and Onyx hear howling in the distance. It is coming from town.
The group finds that werewolves or wolfweres started to dig up the heart. The group leaves Rusty Anvil with the heart. It is raining.
Still raining. It is only a drizzle.
Medium rain.
Sunny day. Find a village. Decide to leave the horses and mules behind. The group continues on foot. Group decides to celebrate Shieldmeet. Onyx cooks. Her food is mostly liked by the elves and not the dwarves (Not enough meat). That night the old grey mare vanishes.
The group is directed to Garbin’s Wall. Get some spare clothes. A gray pigeon lands on Envy’s head. Looks too tired to fly. Onyx stumbles and falls occasionally while climbing. There is frost on the ground. We are past the tree line. Start wearing the winter clothes. The group camps at the base of the glacier.
The day is cold, windy and sunny. We begin the hike over the glacier. Group hears rumbling (except Onyx). A long blue-white worm emerges from the ground. It emits a moaning sound and Valentine is stunned. It chomps on Sunder. It breathes frost toward Sunder and Valentine. Sunder evades the breath, but Valentine cannot evade (stunned) and goes unconscious. Onyx casts fireball at the creature. Valentine stops bleeding (too cold) Envy flanks it and attacks. It dives into the snow and escapes. The rest of day passes uneventfully.
Night watches – nothing happened except it started to snow.
Light snowing – visibility is reduced. There is a strong wind and it is hard to hear. It is also snowing making it hard to see. We tie everyone together to avoid losing anyone. As we travel, Valentine thinks she sees a light in the distance. Valentine thinks it is a fire. It is coming from a cave. The cave entrance is 10 feet tall. Envy sneaks in and checks it out. There are 2 frost giants. It looks like the cave is their home. The group decided to leave them alone. We leave and continue to travel. Eventually we find a hard place to camp for the night.
Still windy, but it stopped snowing. Travel in crevices. Looks like there will be some climbing later in the day. We reach the base of a cliff and Envy and Onyx use fly spells. We ferry everyone to the top. Once at the top we can see a very green valley. There is a low lying mist covering the lower elevations and preventing the group from getting a detailed look at the valley. Envy casts another fly spell on Sunder. We all fly at a low level and manage to get to the center of the valley. The center of the valley has some ruins, walls covered with vines. There are also a number of freaky animal statues around. Some of them have 3 eyes. If there were gems in the eye sockets, they are long gone.
While investigating the area (looking for a place to camp), the group is attacked by 3 shambling mounds. Onyx, Envy and Zaphod are surprised. Onyx still has a fly spell and stays out of their reach by hovering out of range. Valentine was playing a flute near a statue. One of the plants misses Envy. One of the vines hits Zaphod, but it fails to entwine him. Another mound misses Valentine. Sunder tries to leap over a wall, but stumbles into the wall. He runs around the edge of the wall and attacks the vines near Valentine. Zaphod fires some arrows, but misses it. Valentine moves toward the nearby shambling mound and attacks it with her fans. The plant hits Envy and Valentine. Valentine avoids being caught up in the vines, but Envy is caught. Onyx casts Ball Lightning, but it has no effect on the shambling mounds.
Sunder attacks the one on Valentine. Zaphod attacks the one on him. Valentine fumbles (3 ones) and her fans fly off. Fortunately they fall nearby (within the same hex). The plants attack Zaphod who manages to avoid being caught. Sunder and Envy are grabbed. Onyx casts Magic Missile on the one with Sunder and causes some damage.
Sunder tries to break free, but fails. Zaphod continues to fire his arrows. Valentine picks up her fans. Zaphod is hit by one of the plants and Sunder is being crushed by one of the plants. Envy breaks free. Onyx uses her wand of magic missiles one the one crushing Sunder.
Sunder breaks free and tries to attack the plant, but misses. Zaphod continues to fire his arrows on the plant near him. Valentine attacks with her fans and kills it. The plants try for Envy and Zaphod. Onyx does Magic Missile on the one on Envy.
Sunder gets out a potion of Cure Light Wounds and drinks it. Zaphod escapes from the plant. Onyx again fires magic missiles from the wand.
The group attacks the one remaining plant. Valentine again loses her grip on one of the fans and it flies off. The plant near Zaphod retreats. Onyx again does magic missiles on the one remaining plant and it dies. [Note: shambling mounds – fire does not work very well on them and they are immune to electricity]. The group decides to chop up the dead plants into a lot of little pieces. The night passes uneventfully.
The group searches the ruins. There are more freaky statues. Some of the statues have 3 eyes. We come across a dome where there are many statues. The statues alternate facing in and facing out. In the center there is a smaller circle of stone. Looking closer it is a “well”. There is water. It is very clear, but it is also very deep. Valentine, Envy and Onyx go for a closer look. Onyx can tell that the water or the well itself is magical. Getting a cup of water, Onyx notices that the water once removed is not magical. It is mainly the well that is magical and not the water.
Everyone is surprised except Sunder. While discussing the pool, one of the statues move and does an incantation. It is Obscuring Mist. Everyone is in the area of effect and cannot see very well. There are 5 gargoyles. Two of them attack Onyx and one attacks Valentine. Another one is near Envy.
Sunder remembers the position of the one who cast the spell. It is close and he moves forward hoping to run into the gargoyle. Sunder succeeds as that gargoyle has not yet moved. As the mist obscures our vision we notice that the “moving statues” have wings. Sunder attacks the one who cast the spell and it goes down screaming. All of the other gargoyles abandon the one they were attacking and go and attack Sunder. Everyone tries to find where the battle is. Onyx casts fly and moves, but fails to find the battle.
Zaphod and Valentine find the battle and attack. Envy tries, but does not find the battle.
Sunder cleaves one manages to cleave another one (with one attack). Valentine hits one critically and then fumbles. Another one dies, but one manages to escape.
Looking at the pool, it has conjuration and some other forms of magical energy. Valentine has a rope tied around her and she swims down to see what is there. Just before returning to the surface, she feels her hand has left water about 100 feet down. There is an air pocket about 100 feet down. With her fly spell still up, Onyx and Envy go down and check out the air pocket. It is very dark down there. It turns out to be a very large circular area. There are bas reliefs on the wall all around. There are pictures of the freaky animals. Going around the edge of the dome shaped air pocket, Envy and Onyx eventually come across a set of doors. There are a couple of large humanoids with their fingers intertwined which form a lock. Envy notices that there is a trap in the center, about where people would land. Looking carefully she discovers that it opens up and further down there is lava. Envy and Onyx go back up and report. The group decides to dump the heart in the lava.
Onyx feels a little sick. It feels like morning sickness. She suspects the plant demon since it kidnapped her when she was unconscious and has no idea what happened during that time. She hurt all over when she was rescued. (It had required a fate point).
Note: Everyone levels up before the iron golems. Before going down the well Envy casts “Polymorph Self” and becomes a troll.
Cast spells and go down there. Notice that the cover over the lava is gone and there is a clawed footprint in the globs of lava around the hole. Looking at the rope it falls into the lava about a minute later (someone above cut the rope). Looking at the door Onyx determines that there is transmutation magic on the door. We suspect that the bas reliefs that form the door could attack us. Envy determines there are 2 magical traps on the door. She manages to disarm them. Onyx and Envy suspect that the traps on the door were some type of fire trap. Iron constructs start to move. There is a groaning of rusty metal. They are iron golems, but they look slightly rusty. Note: fire heals them and they breathe poison.
Sunder attacks golem #1 and it takes an attack of opportunity. Sunder hits and golem #1 gets a hit in as well. Envy casts Haste and attacks once on golem #1. Zaphod casts “Spiritual Weapon” which dissolves upon hitting the golem. Valentine takes a step back and tries to lure the golems out. Onyx pulls out her longbow and arrow and shoots the golem. It doesn’t hit. Golem #1 breathes out a cloud of poisonous gas. Sunder loses 3 pts of CON. Then golem #1 slams Sunder. Golem #2 hits Envy and then misses her. We realize that the electrical from Sunder’s weapon slowed golem #1. Electricity does no damage, but does slow them.
Sunder gagging and cursing attacks golem #1 and hits. Envy attacks, but her attacks miss. Zaphod shoots an arrow and it shatters (no damage). Valentine runs up and attacks. Onyx casts “Ball Lightning” and creates 2 balls, one for each golem. The balls do no damage, but the golems are slowed by them. The golems attack once instead of twice. Golem #1 attacks Sunder and hits. Golem #2 breathes the poisonous gas and Valentine receives 2 points of CON damage.
Sunder attacks. Envy decides she can’t damage them so takes out a couple of vials of antitoxin (one for Sunder and one for Valentine). Zaphod moves up behind Sunder. Valentine hits golem #2. Onyx continues her 2 balls and keeps the golems slowed. Golem #1 hits Sunder. Golem #2 attempts to attack Valentine.
Sunder attacks and takes down golem #1. Envy gives the antitoxin to both Valentine and Sunder before retreating. Zaphod does a “Cure Serious Wounds” on Sunder. Valentine attacks and misses golem #2. Onyx continues with her 2 lightning balls and concentrates the electrical attack on golem #2. Golem #2 hits Valentine.
Sunder drinks the antitoxin (+4 Fortitude Save) and Envy continues to keep an eye out for possible attacks from the well or from down below (the lava). Zaphod casts “Greater Magic Weapon” on his arrows. Valentine tumbles out of range and drinks “Neutralize Potion” from her potion belt. Onyx continues the “balls”. Golem #2 attacks Sunder.
Sunder continues his attacks. Envy holds her ground. Zaphod uses an arrow and takes down golem #2. Sunder saves vs. the secondary effect of the gas (death). Valentine is not affected since she drank the “Neutralize Poison” potion.
The group eventually enters the portal and begins Adventure 2: Interlopers of Ruun-Khazai.
