Dog Sledding

We love malamutes and sledding gives us an excuse to have as many as we want!

The photo above was taken at Chinook Kennels in Wonalancet, New Hampshire.  Many of the dogs for the Byrd Antarctic Expeditions were trained there.   Chinook is also significant because it is where Eva Seeley developed the first line of Alaskan malamutes that would become AKC registered.  It gives us shivers to run dogs on those historic trails.

We do race from time to time, but as you can see here it's all for fun.  Hiram is finishing a 30 mile race at the same time as musher Jim Lalla.  Jim purposely held back his faster team of Siberians just so that he and Hiram could have a playful "Iron Will" photo finish.  Click here for more race and sledding photos.

Fall training is a lot of fun and hard work for both people and dogs.  Vicki's team is moving nicely in this photo.  Click here for more photos of our fall training runs.  This year it rained a lot, creating the huge mud holes and the running water that you can see in some of the pictures.
