We are continuing to settle in to life with Ruby! Never a dull moment around the house nowadays. She is all about go-go-go and learning about and touching everything.

Last Saturday Ruby got her Certificate of Citizenship in the mail! She was a citizen when we cleared immigration in the airport at LA but this makes it official. We will go get her new passport soon. We will still do a re-adoption here in the states. We understand we need to do that so it is official in the eyes of the court here. She can also then get a US birth certificate which will prove useful later in life we guess. We are thankful that it is now an automatic procedure for getting the Cert. of Citizenship. That just happened this spring. It used to be a hassle to get.

Ruby seems to be doing quite well. She has gained one pound since we've been home and is now up to a whopping 17lbs 10oz! Not exactly a heavyweight! She has a ways to go to fill out her clothes. I think she just cracked the bottom 1% of the growth chart.

She continues to enjoy playing with all her toys. This week she has started wanting to play in her crib when she wakes up in the morning and after her naps. She likes it if we put a bunch of her stuff animals in there for her to crawl around with. She also can work the Dreamscape soother which plays music and has a little lighted display. Our friend Trent brought her a toy cell phone and a set of golf clubs the other day. She loves playing with phones! She gets excited when we hold up the phone to her ears and someone talks to her. She won't make any noise back yet though.

She is really close to starting to use words. She will say Mama and some fragments of other words. She also knows the signing for hungry, all done and  thirsty. She is still a little dodgy on eating. She will indicate "all done" early on but we know to try again before giving up. She started successfully using a straw and sippy cup today which was good.
