Sorry it's taking soon long between updates. Life with Ruby is busy and tiring! We wouldn't trade it for anything though. As Julie told me tonight, Ruby's sweetness and good humor make up for her stubbornness!  Although we think her stubbornness is a great asset, it can sure take a toll on the parents.

Ruby continues to settle into life in the US. She has learned to use a sippy cup but is still working on using utensils.  She loves the opportunity to play with a meal and occasionally gets some of the food into her mouth.  She'll probably continue with her bottles of formula until mid-summer, but she eats lots of table foods as well.  She is always most interested in what Mom and Dad are eating, but the bottle clearly offers the comfort of familiarity.  Ruby loves to take a bath, and we just put out her little kiddy pool so she can start playing in it on nice days. Her comprehension seems really good, and we're eager for her verbal skills to catch up so she can tell us how smart she really is.  We think she's a real smarty pants!  Even without the verbal language skills, she's an excellent communicator.  Her (and our) limited knowledge of ASL is a big help to us all.  As is probably typical of most toddlers, she saves her loudest giggles, cries and conversation for home.  She does, however, tend to be comfortable with new people.  Her "hi" is adorable, and she's quick to point out any ball or orb-like object she sees by pointing and excitedly saying "ba"; the "l" sound isn't there yet.
