Thank you for the privilege of making our Farris lines available to all who may connect and encourage others to contact us if they feel they belong to this family.
I have strong circumstantial evidence to tie my Laura Farris Talbott to the Lucian N. (Nestor) Farris family. We have now established a round-robin email whereas all emails on the Farris family are sent to those who are personally connected or believe they are connected. This has been very beneficial and, if you believe you may be connected to this family, please email me. Ruby Simonson McNeill

Lucian Nestor Farris b. 1820 Franklin Co IL. On Jan 12, 1859
while a member of the Missouri State Legislature from Reynolds County he
wrote a letter to his wife. The following
is quoted from that letter (and is the basis for my theory that Laura may
be a sister
of Lucian N. Farris):
"I recon you hav heard of Ben Talbott escape from Potosi he left
their in inst at 8 o'clock at night he was 40 miles next morning
from their making tracks for furand land I saw a friend to day that
gave me the particulars that lives in the place the door was unlocked
by some unknown hand their was no one made any search for him he had loats
of friends their I hope this will be a caushion to Ben & especially
to his boys I think this aught to keep them out of bad company they are
all well"
Lucian had more
than a passing interest in Ben Talbott and his children to have moved
him to write to his wife about them and have concern for them. Reynolds
Co., MO is quite close to Washington Co., MO.

How is Clinton related

Ann "Polly" Mann b. 3-31-1829, d. 4-14-1905. Clinton's
wife married Boss Piles after his death in 1855. Their children were
Johnny Lee Piles and Samantha Piles. It appears that a Lucian Farris was
a cousin to Ematire Farris who married Thomas Green Webb and lived in Leeper
(Wayne CO) until the 1920's. Her daughter, Alberta Webb Leeper married
George W. Leeper.

Thanks for the update.
There is still a problem with the family of Clinton Farris and Mary Ann
Mann. Only the four girls, Ematire, Mary Jane, Juliet, and Nancy
are Clinton's children. The others, William Arthur, Seth, Tracion
(could also be Anderson), and Lucian are the children of Mary Ann and Boss
Piles. They are not Farris's. I might have given you the wrong
information initially, but I thought I had corrected it.
Sorry.......Beverly Montgomery(

We know that Lucien/Lucian Farris was born in Franklin Co., IL in 1820.
Franklin County borders Hamilton County where another Farris family resided.
Franklin County, Illinois was formed in 1818 from White, Gallatin and Johnson
County. Hamilton County was formed in 1821 from White county so the
areas
should all be considered for Farris research. Gallatin county
was formed in 1812 from Randolph county which is a border county for Monroe
County.
My Laura Farris was born in 1818 in Illinois. If she was, indeed,
the sister to Lucian then she was probably born in Franklin County or one
of the parent counties.
The Franklin Co., IL - Black Hawk War records show Anderson Farris and
Benjamin Talbott both in same Company. I was provided information
that Anderson P. Farris purchased land in Franklin Co., IL in 1833 (which
I also found on the internet) but in Franklin Co., IL Land Records Book
2 by Janice Johnson is the following:
8 Sept 1837
- Anderson P. Farriss, now of Monroe County,
Illinois.
The following was taken from the "Farris Files - Vol. 2, 1993". The
source is the National Archives File (Rev. War) #R3455 and reads, in part:State
of Illinois - Franklin County:
On the 2nd day of June 1834 personally appeared John Farris a resident
of Franklin County, State of Illinois aged Seventy years ... that he enlisted
in the year 1779 in Capt. George Brown's Company and served in 14th Regt
of the Continental or Virginia line .. he enlisted at Louisa Court
House state of Virginia and that he there joined the Regt which was commanded
by Lt. Col. Slaughter... legally dischared at Williamsburgh state of Virginia
by Major Rusel and that he have a printed discharge he thinks bearing date
of 1781 or 1782... that when he entered the service before mentioned he
lived in the State of Virginia, Hanover County and that he returned home
and that in the year 1782 volunteered under Col. Charles Dabney...
signed by mark of John Farris.
According to the above Rev War document this would give John Farris a birthdate
of approx. 1757 (if 18 age time of enlistment). He died after
2 June 1834 probably in Franklin Co., IL. At the birth
year of ca. 1757, John Farris may better fit the role of grandfather to
Lucien and/or Laura Farris rather than the role of father.
In the 1860
St. Francois Co., MO is the following:
565-568
John J.
Farris ae. 24 b. IL Merchant $600-$1105
Martha Farris
21 b. Ireland
Francis
Beal 24 b. PA
How does
John J. Farris relate to Laura Farris Talbott, if at all?
