Adult Weaving Class
This class will teach students how to weave rag rugs using
three different techniques. Each student will learn how to
construct and use a frame loom. The class will also learn the
many different tapestry techniques used in manipulating materials
into designs. Other rug making techniques will be discussed
such as braided rugs, coiled rugs, and plaited rugs. The
instructor will touch on the uses of these tools throughout
history. The class will be held once a week in a three-hour
format.The ideal time for this type of class to be offered is on a
weekday evening.
Childrens Weaving Class
This class
will focus on weaving using a small frame loom. The children
will construct a loom with wood and glue. Then they will learn
the basic techniques used in tapestry weaving. The children
will create three weavings; recycled weave ing, sampler
weaving and a finished weaving designed and created by each
student. This can be easily offered as an after school
enrichment program.
