GHOSTS AND HAUNTED PLACES

OF PHILADELPHIA, PA

~HAUNTED IN PHILLY~

The creaking sound of the door, as it opens in the night.
A disembodied voice, performing a nightly rite.
A chubby man with glasses propped upon his nose,
Transparent in the library, floating up and down the rows.

Relax at City Tavern for dinner and some chatter,
The silverware may move and the dinner dishes clatter.
This unhappy spector could fill your heart with fright,
He vanishes before your eyes, in a shirt with blood on white.

In the cemetery at St Peters, Indian spirits sometimes roam,
And joining them is a dark man, wandering alone.
Step back as a horse drawn carriage, rides into the yard,
And just as quickly disappears, after making its charge.

Eastern State Penitentiary looms high with castle walls,
Hear the cell doors echo as you meander down the halls.
Look for Edgar Allan Poe, at his Philly home,
See Betsy Ross' spinning wheel, where our flag was sewn.

This city while so modern, is still a place to dwell,
For our forefathers and others, whom you may not know so well.
And, as you make your way along the city street,
You never really know, what soul you just might meet.
