North Augusta at 100

The North Augusta Belvedere Radio Club operated Special Event stations on August 18 and 19, 2006. The K4NAB Special Event celebrated the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of North Augusta, SC. The radio club working with the city of North Augusta set up the Aiken County Amateur Radio Emergency Communications trailer at the North Augusta Community Center. The club set up an information table with pamphlets on amateur radio and North Augusta activities. The public was welcome to tour the communications trailer. The radio club operated simultaneous stations on 40 and 20 meters using SSB and CW. Certificates will be issued to those that QSL with a SASE to the club call signs address K4NAB. The Special Event chairman was K4FKJ. Participants in the event were: W3MIF, W4KVF, W4UK, W8CNL, K4FKJ, K4JCC, K4NJN, KB4GYT, KE4NNS, KG4IUQ, KI4DLR, N2ZZ and N4RM. Radio Club President W3MIF reported the Special Event made 100s of contacts from coast to coast and even worked other Special Event stations around the country. This Special Event, North Augusta at 100, was an excellent club and community activity.

The attached photo is K4FKJ with the "Above and Beyond" award presented to him at the Dec. meeting. The mug is engraved with our clubs Special Event certificate. Dick was selected based on his long-term support of club activities and especially for his efforts in 2006 for making the clubs first special event station a success.
