Meeting Minutes for May 11, 2009

The meeting was held at Aiken Regional Medical Center, Rooms A&B, in Aiken, SC.

Meeting was called to order by Club President Carl Bosard, AJ4AU at 1934hrs.

12 club members and 6 guests attended.

 

Treasurer’s Report

Carl Bosard gave the Treasurer’s report in the absence of Treasurer Tom Arnold, W4KVF. 2009 Dues are due ($15 for individual membership, $18 for family membership).

 

Secretary’s Report

The Secretary Steve Czaikowski W8SC was excused from the April meeting for health reasons so no minutes from the April meeting were available for review.   He read a letter from Aiken Bicycle Club expressing thanks to the club for providing communications for their annual ride.  Dave Falls, KI4NFJ, and Robert Adams, KI4VGP, applied for club membership.  Their applications were read and each was unanimously approved.  The club members welcomed them into the organization.

Committee Reports

A.     Repeater

Repeater trustee Dick Schoenfelder had nothing to report.

 

B.     Net Manager

Net Manager Steve Czaikowski W8SC reports that the Carolina State Line Net is now recognized as a Local Level Net of the National Traffic System.  Volunteers are needed to serve as NCS for the net.  Please contact Steve if you can take a NCS slot or if you would like training as a NCS.

 

C.     Public Service

ARRL South Carolina Section Emergency Coordinator Charlie Miller, AE4UX reported that the D-STAR repeaters are up and running.  Aiken Technician Classes will be held July 30-31 for DHEC and SCHEART personnel. Radio Response Training will follow on August 3.  Register for the classes at scheart.us, then clicking on SC.

 

D.    Community Support

Old Business

Schofield Middle School :  Kent KQ4KK reported that the newly formed Schofield Middle School radio club is holding weekly meetings and Technician licensing classes are being held.  The Aiken Standard provided press coverage on the formation of the club.  Tom French, AJ4MX has donated 2 meter HT and power supply to the school club.  The school will purchase Yaesu HF and VHF transceivers with a $1000 grant obtained from SRS.

 

A report on the Aiken Bicycle Club ride was provided by Robert Williams KE4VVR.

New Business

Field Day is June 27-28 and will be held at North Augusta Public Service Station #2.

Tonight’s Program:

Gordon Baker, AG4WH, presented THE BASICS OF TRANSMITTER HUNTING.

The Meeting was adjourned at 2045 hrs.

June 8, 2009 at North Augusta Public Service Station #2.

The Program will be Preparation for Field Day.
