Committee Reports

A.     Repeater

President Carl Bosard AJ4AU reported that the repeater has been functioning well.

B.     Net Manager

Net manager Steve Czaikowski W8SC reported.  Volunteers are needed to serve as NCS for the net.  Please contact Steve if you can take a NCS slot or if you would like training as a NCS.  Without volunteers to serve as Net Control stations the net can not continue to function.

C.     Public Service

ARRL South Carolina Section Emergency Coordinator Charlie Miller – AE4UX reported that the statewide and Midlands WMD exercises were scheduled to run concurrently, but that the WMD portion that was to be heavily supported by Amateur Radio was cancelled.  The Orangeburg SCHEARTS repeaters are up and running.  The Beech Island installation is next on the list, but the hold up is the tower climbing crew.  SCHEARTS training has graduated 125 new hams so far this year.  Aiken class will be held July 30-31.

D.    Community Support

President Carl Bosard AJ4UA reported that a set of ARRL books was donated by the club and presented to the North Augusta Public Library on June 27, 2009.

Old Business

Field Day Expenses totaled $96.92.  SC Section Manager Dr. Jim Boehner, N2ZZ, reported that SCHEARTS is doing great.  The FD visits by AE4UX and himself totaled 8 sites throughout the state.  APRS tracking was used.  A joint Section Manager committee formulated a letter to the ARRL BOD regarding EmComm classes.  Jim Cross of the FCC announced at Dayton FCC Forum that people working for a business can not use amateur radio.  This could affect SCHEARTS and any hospital hams.  Additional information will be made available when decisions are finalized.
