Secretary’s Report:

Committee Reports:

A.    Repeater

There were no known problems with the repeater.

B.     Net Manager

Mark Ledford – KG4IUQ reported.

The Amateur Radio Club of Augusta had been advertising for many weeks about our net for us, on their 145.49 MHZ net every Sunday evening.

Opportunity was given for any persons interested, to serve as Net Control Operator for our net.

There had been a DX check in from Greer, SC (over 100 miles away from the repeater) on July 6th.

Old Business:

Carl Bosard recently had recently obtained printed advertisement literature about Amateur Radio from the ARRL, to display at our Field Day event and other public places. Mark Ledford took some of the literature to the Aiken Library. The Aiken Library agreed to put on display the smallest display stand of ARRL literature that Mark asked to be put on display. Because of their need to remove books of low public interest from the shelves, several outdated Amateur Radio books were removed from a library shelf.

Field Day results were revued.

112 CW Contacts (224 points)

109 Phone (109 points)

Considering a power multiplier of 2 and 550 bonus points, 1216 points were earned.

New Business:

Proposal to add a few books to the Aiken Library, to advertise our club to persons interested in Amateur Radio. Decision was made to collect contributions over time, and donate books to Aiken and possibly the North Augusta library.

New Member Vote for KQ4KK (Kent Hufford). Kent was voted into the club.

Myron Berry, the District Scout Event Coordinator had asked if we can have a VE session in Aiken, at St. John’s church. He believed there would be many who would attend. Myron Berry had suggested that this occur in late August of 2008. Mark Ledford and Carl Bosard were planning to teach a technician class and hold a VE session for them. It appeared that there would be sufficient support from club members, to hold a VE session.

Fox Hunt planning. Next Fox hunt tentatively set for October 18th.

Tonight’s Program:
1938 Recording of a Hobart Spark Gap Transmitter, by Gordon Baker (AG4WH).
