NORTH AUGUSTA BELVEDERE RADIO CLUB

Meeting Minutes for October 12, 2009.

The meeting was held at North Augusta Public Safety Station #2 in North Augusta, SC.

Meeting was called to order by Club President Carl Bosard, AJ4AU at 7:32 PM.

12 club members and 1 guest attended.

 

Treasurer’s Report

Treasurer Tom Arnold – W4KVF gave the report.  The Club’s liability insurance will be renewed this month.

 

Secretary’s Report

Secretary Steve Czaikowski, W8SC reported. The minutes from the September 14 meeting were read and approved.

 

Committee Reports

A.     Repeater

Carl AJ4AU reported that the prolonged cloudy weather has affected the repeater due to inadequate solar charging of the batteries.

 

B.     Net Manager

Net manager Steve Czaikowski W8SC reported.  Volunteers are needed to serve as NCS for the net.  Please contact Steve if you can take a NCS slot or if you would like training as a NCS.  Without volunteers to serve as Net Control stations the net can not continue to function.

 

 

C.     Public Service

ARRL South Carolina Section Emergency Coordinator Charlie Miller – AE4UX, reported the the HealthCare nets in South Carolina have been temporarily suspended due to the recent FCC discussions.  On October 14, 2009, the Emergency Communication Vehicle Interoperative Rodeo will be held to exercise and develop inter-agency communications techniques.  The Amateur Radio trailers will participate.

 

D.    Community Support

Nothing new to report.

Old Business

No old business was discussed.

New Business

Club President AJ4AU announced that nominations are open for club officers for the 2010 club year.  Carl stated that all club members are on the nominating committee, and should forward their nominations to the club secretary, W8SC.  Article V, Section II of the by-laws states “The elected officers of the Club shall be a President, a Secretary and a Treasurer.  They shall be elected in November of each year.”

 

Tonight’s Program:

Charlie Miller, AE4UX, Section Emergency Coordinator and RACES Radio Officer for South Carolina, presented an informative program on SCHEART and South Carolina Emergency Communications.  Information can be found on www.scheart.us.  The statewide repeater system has the ability to link repeaters individually throughout South Carolina, and to include North Carolina systems NC HEARS and NC CARES.

The Meeting was adjourned at 8:35 PM.

Next Meeting

November 9, 2009 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, Aiken, SC.

Program will be Solar Weather and HF Propagation by Steve Naglic, K9NWS.

The election of officers for the 2010 Club Year will be held during the meeting.
