Meeting Minutes for November 9, 2009.

The meeting was held at Aiken Regional Medical Centers in Aiken, SC.

Meeting was called to order by Club President Carl Bosard, AJ4AU at 7:30 PM.

12 club members and 8 guests attended.

 

Treasurer’s Report

President Carl Bosard gave the report.  The club insurance policy was renewed.

 

Secretary’s Report

Secretary Steve Czaikowski, W8SC reported. The minutes from the October 12 meeting were dispensed in the interest of saving time for the program.

 

Committee Reports

A.     Repeater

AJ4AU reported that the lack of sufficient sunshine has caused some battery charging problems..

 

B.     Net Manager

Net manager Steve Czaikowski W8SC reported.  Volunteers are needed to serve as NCS for the net.  Please contact Steve if you can take a NCS slot or if you would like training as a NCS.  Without volunteers to serve as Net Control stations the net can not continue to function.

 

 

C.     Public Service

ARRL South Carolina Section Emergency Coordinator Charlie Miller – AE4UX reported that MARS has a new program “Agency License” that allows HF MARS network access by non-MARS participants.  Training class is this week and more information will be provided after the training.

 

D.    Community Support

Nothing to report

Old Business

No old business was discussed.

New Business

Club President AJ4AU announced that nominations are open for club officers for the 2010 club year.  Article V, Section II of the by-laws states “The elected officers of the Club shall be a President, a Secretary and a Treasurer.  They shall be elected in November of each year.”

Nominations for President: Carl Bosard, AJ4AU

Nominations for Secretary: None

Nominations for Treasurer:  Tom Arnold, W4KVF

 

Boots WX4BB moved that the nominations for President and Treasurer be closed, and that AJ4AU and W4KVF be acclaimed victorious.  Unanimously approved.  President AJ4AU stated that since there are no nominations for Secretary, nominations will be sought at the next meeting.

 

Boots WX4BB stated that the Amateur Radio Club of Augusta can no longer support the Battle of Aiken event with their communications needs, and asked if the club would be willing to take on the 3-day event held in February.  President AJ4AU will contact Robert Williams to see if he is interested in taking on the project as Club Activities Manager.

Tonight’s Program:

Steve Naglic, K9NWS, Forecast Meteorologist for the National Weather Service at Columbia, SC, gave a superb presentation on “Solar Weather and HF Propagation”. 

The Meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM.

Next Meeting

December 14, 2009 at Golden Corral Restaurant on Whiskey Road, Aiken, SC.

Program will be the 2009 Holiday Party that begins at 6:30 PM!!  Guests and significant others are welcome to attend.
