The Installation of a GM Transmission Cooler:

This Is A Mod That I Necessary to Prolong the Life of Your Transmission.

I Chose to Use the GM Tranny Cooler Off of the '99 Lumina/Monte Carlo.
To Be Honest the Reason I Chose This One is Because it is Fairly Inexpensive.

I Will Have Pictures Up Shortly to Go Along With These Instructions, So Bear With Me
(I am running out of space and am looking for a bigger site, used all my space for pictures).

1. Get all of the parts needed for the install (on a '97 GP):

-One Transmission Cooler (p/n 10275682)
-Two Bolts to Mount the Top of the Cooler (p/n 11513894)
-Two Nuts to Mount the Bottom of the Cooler (p/n 11517293)
-One Hose to the Transmission (p/n 10254586)
-One Hose from the Transmission (p/n 10416317)
-One Bracket to Cover the Hoses (p/n 10227107)
-Two Bolts to Mount Bracket (p/n 12337828)

These Last Two Hoses I Am Told Are Needed For Direct Bolt-On for the Other Years
(I will find out what is done with these when I have the time):

-Hose (p/n 10273666)
-Hose (p/n 10271467)

2. Slide the threaded bolts attached to the cooler into the two slots in front of the radiator on the drivers side of the latch. Align it the way that you want to mount it(mine rests against the mount for the latch) and mark the center of the top mounts so that you can drill holes. Now I noticed that it would not mount flat due to the curved edges on the cooler mounts, so I took a hammer and pounded these until they where flat for a more secure mount. Now take out the cooler and use a 9/32 drill bit to make your holes.

3. Before this step, I found it easiest to either jack up the car or to drive it up on ramps. After the holes are drilled, put the cooler back in and use the two black bolts (p/n 11513894) to start mounting the cooler (the holes tap fairly easily, I just used a socket wrench (socket size 13mm) to get them started before I put the cooler in). After you have the top bolts in go ahead and mount the bottom with the nuts (p/n 11517293) (socket size 10mm). Make sure that everything is tight (no specific torque needed, just use your best judgement).

4. Now we have to cut a hole in the air dam to run the hoses and clear the bracket. First I dropped the air dam and LIGHTLY attached the hoses. There are 5 bolts (10mm socket needed I think) that hold this on (two towards the front of the car, and three towards the back). I then held the bracket up and marked where I should drill the holes (with a 13/64 drill bit). After the holes are drilled, I mounted the bracket and then I held up the air dam to see where I needed to cut it and made pencil marks. Drop the air dam back down, find your pencil marks and start cutting away.

5. Now comes the tricky stuff that I have not done yet, it involves attaching the hoses the rest of the way. If you have read this, how did you know it was on my site, you must be psychic!!!
