My name is Bob Stallman, thank you for stopping by my site. I have been working on my roots for the past 15 years or so. I have yet to pinpoint the town that my ancestors were born. It seems as though many of the records were lost or destroyed at the port of Bremen, Germany. While looking for my ancestors, I have also became interested in helping other people trying to find their roots. The past 3 years I have been transcribing cemeteries and putting them on-line. Please check out my other site, Cemeteries and Tombstones , you might find one of your ancestors there. My Stallman line arrived in America, approximately 1869. Christian Stallman and his wife Sophia, along with their married son Frederick and his family. They were from Mecklenberg, Germany and made their new home in the town of Rush, Monroe County, New York. There they raised their families and made their living at farming. The Dell family, two brothers Carl William and their families came to this country in 1883, from Richtenberg, Pommern, Germany. They farmed in the Rush-Henrietta, of Monroe County, New York. There was possibly a third brother, my grandfathers oldest sister Carrie Stallman married a Christopher Dell. I have only assumed this and has not been confirmed. Two brothers, John and Julius Gresens and their families arrived in the Port of New York , April 9 1882. They made the crossing on the ship Main, that came from Bremen, Germany. I have yet to find the name of the German town where they were from. It has been said, by some family members that they lived on the German/Polish border and if they walked out the back door of their house they would be in Poland. The Gresens made their new home in Rochester New York. William A. and family were clothing factory workers. My Grandfather was also a fireman in his early years. The following story came from my Grandmothers youngest brother Harold or as he preferred "Harry". I have been unable to document the story. "Laurence Peiffer, was born 1851 in Germany and lived in New York City upon coming to America. He became the Michaelangelo of his era before coming to Rochester, New York. He painted the ceiling murals in many of the great churches, theaters and public buildings in New York City and vicinity. The Rochester, N.Y. Peiffer family started when Laurence came to paint the murals in the Strand theater in downtown Rochester. Bertha Rose Meldola, an accomplished artist and musician was appearing in the theater at that time. Her father was a famous French violinist. Bertha Rose and Laurence met and were married." They remained in Rochester and raised their family
