The
Transformation
I thought that what I found under the moldings was ugly, but when the grinder came out, the REAL bad news started. Apparently, the car had been redone once before, and was LOADED with body filler. (I knew this when I bought it, but I had no idea just how bad it was.) Since it's only a daily driver, not a 100-point restoration, the body shop basically just patched it up again with fiberglas resin and filler. (I know, I know, I would have liked to hang new quarters on it, but I didn't want to sink five grand in it and be afraid to park it at Wal-Mart for fear of someone dinging my concours paint job. Besides, I don't have five grand.)
