So you'd like to get your computer on chat without using the web inerface eh? The good news is it's really easy! The better news is this tutorial works for people using Widnows, Linux, and Mac computers. I assume that you know how to download and install a piece of software, and that you're running Windows, Linux, or Mac OS X. If not eMail me.

 

Ok, first of all download X-Chat for your OS.

Once you have it downloaded and isntalled launch X-Chat. A server dialogue window will come up.Do:

1-Click "No Server List on Startup"

2-Click "Add Network"

3-Double click "New Network" and name something like CPF

4-Fill in Nick Names, Username, Ralname. Nick Name is the really only important one. It determines what your name is in the chat room

5-Double click "NewServer" and change it to 216.200.173.133

6-Change the port to 7070

7-Click "Auto Connect on Startup"

8-Click connect.

 

Wait for a moment and you will get a message that indicates you've sucessfully connected to the server. Type "/join #cpf" without the ""s and you'll be on your way! Good luck!
