Mike Sabolick- Lead Guitar
Mike has been playing professionally for 18 years. His first instrument was the violin, soon to be followed by the saxophone. He picked up the bass in junior high, when he and Jimi started their first band, "Spork," which also included Mike's kid brother Doug Sabolick, soon to move on to "Crucifixion," and then the influential A Life Once Lost.
Mike then played bass, guitar, and sax for his band, "the NIdS," but left due to frustration due to their unprofessionalism. He then started "Wellington," whose volume and songwriting both were frequently compared to The Who. Dan joined Wellington two months before their first U.S. tour, and stayed on until leaving to study art in Rome. Mike then moved onto drums, playing for both the surfy "Space/Charge," and the stoner-rock dance band "Broadcaster."
During this time, Mike picked up a teaching job at The Paul Green School of Rock, and was soon promoted to manager. That lead to work at the Mighty North Star Bar, as soundman and stage manager. Today, Mike is still teaching at the School of Rock, but divides his remaining time between his band, Dog and Pony, and taking care of his girlfriend Erin, who recently suffered a debilitating brain injury. He has been lauded as the most talented musician in the Philadelphia area, and attributes his radical playing technique to injury; a fist-fight that cost him the full use of both the ring and pinky fingers of his fretting hand, as well as a car accident that left him with a total loss of feeling in his left arm due to nerve damage.
Mike's musical influences include, but are not limited to:
-Black Sabbath
-The Police
-Jimi Hendrix
-Johnny Winter
-Skeleton Key
-ZZ Top
