About Pieter Weltevrede

Since 1977, Pieter Weltevrede has been studying the ancient technique of Yantra painting and this special East Indian Wash technique with his now deceased Tantric master, Shri Harish Johari.

The wash technique illuminates each painting with an inner light that allows a Divine energy to shine forth.

Pieter has traveled to India annually since 1988. He was allowed the freedom to travel for extended stays in India after being recognized by the Dutch government as a master artist.  This supported his continuing studies with Shri Harish Johari’s teacher, Chandra Bal, and brother, Suresh Johari.

Pieter was selected by Shri Harish Johari to assist illustrating most of his books;  including “The Birth of the Ganga”, “ How Ganesh Got his Elephant Head”, “The Monkeys and the Mango Tree”, “Ayurvedic Massage”, “Chakras”, and the newly published in July of 2007 “The Portable Hindu Altar”.
