Safety System Service is an incorporated company focused on repairing all aspects of motor vehicle safety features. The prime categories are systems designed to prevent collisions, such as Anti-Lock Brakes, and those dedicated to reducing injuries when collisions do occur. The latter category includes features such as airbags, seat belts, energy absorbing steering columns, instrument panel/knee bolsters, and seating systems.
![]() The manufacturer of each of these systems has devoted a significant effort to design service procedures that will assure drivers that their safety system will perform as designed, if needed. These service procedures assume a certain level of basic expertise in the areas of electronic diagnosis, manual manipulation of components, and the use of computer hardware and software to restore the system to fully functional state after repairs are completed for collision damage. Most collision repair facilities do not have personnel on staff who are properly trained, equipped and experienced to perform the necessary steps to assure customers that these complex systems will perform properly after repairs are completed. Technicians must be trained, equipped, and experienced in diagnosis and repair. An alternative to shuttling the car to a franchised dealership service department would be to repair the system while the car is in process in your own shop. Safety System Service is a mobile repair business that can provide the technical expertise, diagnostic equipment and additional manpower on a sublet basis for the job involving motor vehicle safety system repair. Since 1995, Safety System Service has repaired thousands of these systems and is equipped to handle virtually any model vehicle. Many manufacturers have proprietary diagnostic equipment that is dedicated to diagnosing their particular models. Safety System Service has acquired many of these specialized tools and can provide dealer level service in your collision center. Douglas J. Slack is the president and master technician of Safety System Service. He is fully certified in all categories offered for testing by Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), a nationally recognized organization dedicated to identifying competent automotive repair technicians. Doug has been an ASE Master Technician continuously since 1971 and was named to the Automotive Hall of Fame in March of 1987.
