Gerard Smith

    guitar, mandolin, bouzouki

    website

A native Detroiter, Gerard moved north with his family at an early age to the township of Emmett, a community located in the “thumb” of Michigan, named for Irish patriot Robert Emmett. While Gerard’s musical tastes embraced many styles from hardcore, jazz and rock to classical, he began to assemble his repertoire of Irish ballads and tunes in 1992. Gerard sings and plays electric and acoustic guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, bodhran and concertina. His most recent recording is a solo album Hamtramck: Heaven.
