Age & Sex: Subadult Female
Shadow partially obscures color in the crest of this kingfisher, but the blue appears marginally duller and grayer than the blue in the wing. A better clue to age is found in the upper breast band, which shows considerable brown flecking in the blue. The lower breast band is dull rufous, medium width, and unbroken.
