Touring from our home is easy because Cheverly is on the Metro Orange Line. The station is a 20 minute walk from our house. On the weekends, parking in the Cheverly Metro lot is widely available and free. During the week, parking is possible but does fill up by about 7:30 a.m. The Smithsonian is a 20 minute ride away by Metro, and the United States Capitol is a few stops closer than that. Touring Annapolis and Baltimore

Annapolis is 30 miles east of us (take Route 50). It has a beautiful historic downtown waterfront area (it's the state capitol). In addition, the United States Naval Academy is close to downtown and is a popular tourist destination.

Baltimore is also about 30 miles away, north on the Baltimore Washington Parkway. The waterfront shops, Little Italy and Camden Yards, home of the Orioles, are popular destinations. All are on the near side of Baltimore.
