1953 Hudson Super Jet 2C #258489
Manual transmission with 6 cyl engine
As of December 2007, this Jet was located in Rifle, Colorado being offered up for auction with a clear title. With 40,527 miles, the car runs and drives. It was noted to have always been a western car, previously from Durago, Colorado. It did not appear to have rust in subframe. Originally a Twin-H powered car. Dual carbs removed and replaced with single carb sometime in its past. Owner removed the head when he got the car and found some corrosion in the aluminum head. Ground out the corrosion had the head welded and resurfaced and installed with new head gasket. New wiring harness was recommended at that time as the insulation on the cloth covered wires was rotting. The right rear window had been broken out by a bear and a new replacement was ready for install. At some point the grill was damaged. Again, a replacement was ready but not installed. Brake cylinders had been resealed and a new set of radial tires were on. Car was complete including jack and spare tire. Aluminum head overdrive runs good.
As of May 2008, it was known to be located in Chadron, Nebraska with 40,687 miles when it was again offered for sale. This Super Jet runs and drives great! The engine is whisper quiet and the clutch, transmission, and overdrive all work great. The tires are new and the brakes work good. The car does not overheat and the starting and charging system work correctly. I spent a good deal of time working out a lot of little bugs and it is usable now. The heater works good. I drove it 100 miles a couple of weeks ago without any problems but please don't ask me if it will make a 3500 mile trip. It might but who knows? The car has some rust but the floorboards appear to be in good condition. This is a Hudson you can enjoy immediately.
