July 30 - Membership & Program Seminar @ Good Counsel H.S., Olney, Md.

Aug 3rd – COUNCIL 1622 INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS - Our council will conduct an installation of officers immediately following the 1:00 PM Mass in St. John The Evangelist Church, Frederick, Maryland. A reception of hors d’oeuvres and spirits will follow the installation in the Community Center Hall adjacent to the church. You and your family are invited to attend the Mass, installation and reception. The officers will be wearing a coat and tie and the officer’s ladies will be dressy casual.

Aug 3rd – Assembly 384 INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS

Aug 4th – Cncl Mtg and 1st Degree. St. John’s Community Center. Candidates and degree team members by 7:00pm. Degree begins at 7:30pm.

CHURCH PROGRAMS

RSVP RSVP - our annual financial support for a Seminarian at Mt. St. Mary's - donations are collected in January with annual dues. We typically collect over $500 which triggers an additional $100 payment from MD State KofC, which we pass along to the seminarian. - Coordinator: Financial Secretary Dave Shumway.

St. John's Round

 Table ST. JOHN'S ROUND TABLE (service to parish of St. John the Evangelist Church) - Coordinator: Jose Rector.
Annual Activities - Decorating Church for Christmas and Easter, etc.
          - Hanging Advent Banners, early Dec, Date/time TBD – Three men needed to hang Advent banners.
          - Decorating for Christmas, late Dec, Date/time TBD – 10 men needed to remove advent banners, set up Christmas trees, set-up manger crèche; place flower boxes over windows and hang greens over doors.
Decorate for Easter, Holy Saturday, April 11, 2009, morning - Three men needed to hang Easter banners.

          - Annual clean up of St. John’s Cemetery, one Saturday every April. Date/time TBD.
          - (other service activities will occur throughout the year as specifically requested.)

Donuts and Coffee KofC Sponsored Donuts & Coffee @St. John's Church after Third Sunday 9a & 11a Masses -
    KofC Bishop McNamara Council #1622 sponsors the St. John's Donuts & Coffee Social every 3rd Sunday of the month, September through May. Any profit will go to the St. Vincent De Paul Society.
    Volunteers Needed: one person at 7:30a to help unload donuts and help setup until 8:45a, one person to watch coffee and donuts from 8:45a-9:50a, then 3-4 people to work after the 9:00a Mass (i.e.: 9:50 to 10:50) and 3-4 people after the 11:00 Mass (i.e 11:50 to 12:50). The after-Mass help includes 1-2 greeters and 1-2 servers.
     Future dates: 2008 Sept 21, Oct 19, Nov 16, Dec 21. To sign up, call Coordinator: Larry Lindner.

Council Picnic
KofC ALL YOU CAN EAT SPAGHETTI DINNER BENEFIT FUND-RAISER -
Currently planned to be held twice each year, Spring and Fall in the St. John’s Church Community Center. This includes salad, drinks, dessert and live entertainment. Purpose: raise money for a designated Church benefit (Our Faith in Action!) and Council activities. - OPEN TO THE PUBLIC – Spring date April 25, 2008, Fall date TBD.
Volunteers needed to sell tickets after Masses. Volunteers also needed for the dinner.

PRO-LIFE CHAIRCOUPLE

ANNUAL MARCH FOR LIFE - WASHINGTON DC, on or near the January 22 anniversary of Roe vs Wade. Knights meet at the Northwest corner of ??th Street and Constitution Ave, NW. We march along Constitution Avenue and carry our Council Banner up to the Supreme Court. This year’s date is Jan 22, 2008.

- These funds are managed by the Community Foundation of Fredrick County (CFFC). Approximately $2500 is awarded annually through the Frederick Friends of Catholic Education.

Light the Night Volunteer Assistance for ANNUAL FALL LEUKEMIA WALK at Baker Park in Frederick, MD.
Held on a Saturday evening in late September or early October. People are needed to from 4:00 PM until 8:30 PM to blow up helium balloons, work sign-up tables, and serve as guides/monitors along the Baker Park walk route. Submarine sandwiches provided at end. Bring your wife along, everyone has a good time and it is for an excellent cause. This year's date will be Saturday, October 18, 2008.

For boys and girls in Grades 1 through 8 - Conducted every Fall before Thanksgiving with poster judging held in early December by Council members and their wives. Winners progress to MD State Council judging.
