1.0  Description

This Morrowind plugin places a rather large castle to the south-southwest of the island of Vvardenfell.  You can get there by ship from either the Ebon Heart docks or the docks of Fort Frostmoth. You will be given the choice of either going to the eastern docks or the main docks.  I would suggest going to the eastern docks if this is your first visit to Helios Keep.  I would also suggest visiting at night.  Considering how large Helios Keep is, the castle looks much nicer at night since the game engine doesn’t use fog to cut render distance as aggressively at night.  Not to mention that the lighting of the castle looks much better at night.

SCREENSHOTS

2.0  Secret of the Nerevarine

The castle in its current state doesn’t have any quests yet and is simply there for setting and atmosphere.  However, that will change!  ThreadWhisperer will be merging Helios Keep into his SotN TC.  Then we’ll have quests!  However, in the mean time, if you would like to make a quest for Helios Keep, please contact me and we’ll see what we can do.

3.0  Requirements

Helios Keep requires both Bloodmoon and Tribunal expansions to run.  The plugin was created using version 1.6.1820 of the game.  It should work with earlier versions, but I cannot guarantee that it will.  You can get the patches here.

One warning to note is that this plugin uses quite a few face mods created by many different artists.  The textures used are the original textures packaged by the face mod creator.  Installing this mod may overwrite the textures installed by Faces of Vvardenfell (FOV).  If you like the FOV faces better, just re-install it after installing Helios Keep.  If you’re using Better Faces, you should be okay.

4.0  Installation

I highly suggest you use Venymora’s installer to install Helios Keep.  It’s easy and makes my life much easier as far as support goes.  However, if you decide that you want to manually install Helios Keep using 7-Zip:

A)    You’ll have to extract the files to your “Data Files” folder
B)
Then enable the Helios_Keep.esp file from the launcher
C)
If you don’t know how to do steps A or B, use the installer!!! (install.exe)

6.0  Disclaimer

This is not an official plugin.  Use it at your own risk.  However, be assured that I have tested this plugin thoroughly and do not expect any major problems except for the ones I mention in this document.  I will not be responsible for any damage caused by this mod, however unlikely. ;)  By using this mod, you are agreeing to the above terms and conditions.

As with all plugins that add large areas of land, this plugin will some day conflict other plugins and projects (Tamriel Rebuilt comes to mind).  This simply cannot be helped and you the player simply have to choose which plugin to keep active.  I have, however, tried to pick cells that don’t conflict with any well-known, currently released mods.
