Book Sixteen: The Battle With Clubs The Yadava race prospers. One day the Yadava heros see Narada enter the city and decide to play a joke. They dress up Shamba as a woman and ask the sage if she will have a son. Narada becomes angry and says that Shamba will bring forth an iron club and the whole Yadava race will be destroyed by it except for Balaram and Krishna. Narada's proclimation becomes true as fighting breaks out amongst the Yadavas. The Yadava race slowly destroys each other. Balaram meditating, enters the ocean and is lost. Krishna lost in anguish, wonders into the forests and immerses himself in yoga. A hunter named jara passes by and mistakes Krishna for a deer. He shoots an arrow which hits Krishna in the heel. Reaching Krishna, Jara sees Krishna still rapt in yoga. He falls at his feet and begs forgiveness. Krishna consoles him and enters heaven. Arjun goes to Dwaraka in time to see all the destruction.
