Book Two: The Assembly The Pandavas conquer much of the world and Judhishthir's followers want him to assume the title of "the Ruler of the World". They hold the great horse sacrifice, called the Rajasuya. Duryodhan and his brother become very jealous and become full of anger, envy and greed. They want Judhishthir's wealth and fortune. With the suggestion of their evil uncle Shakuni, they invite the Pandavas to a game of dice. Judhishthir feels that he cannot turn down an invitation from the King himself and goes to play dice. Shakuni, who is an expert cheat, beats Judhishthir. He loses everything, his treasures, wealth, and kingdom. Then he starts betting his brothers. He loses Nakula, Sahadev, Bhim and Arjun. Then he bets himself and loses that also. He then in a final attempt bets Draupadi and loses her. Dushasan goes into the ladies quarters and pulls Draupadi into the main hall by her hair. He then attempts to pull her clothes off. She prays to Krishana, who saves her. She is about the curse King Dhritarashtra when he becomes frightened and gives the Pandavas back all they lost. As the are about to leave, Duryodhan asks them for one last game. The winner spends 12 years in exile in the woods and one more year in anonymity where they cannot be recongnized. Shakuni cheats again, and the Pandavas along with Draupadi leave the kingdom and go on exile into the woods. ****Please press the back button to return to the previous page****
