Oahu is one of the most populated of the Hawaiian islands and one of the most touristy. The volcano(s) on the island has(have) never been active since European man has known of the island, though there are stories among the islanders of Pele inhabiting the caldera of this island before finding a new home. (Pele is the god of the volcano. She builds homes up out of the sea and into caldera to keep her sister (the sea) out)
Honolulu and Wikiki are found on this island as well as pearl harbor. (The harbor is quite beautiful flying over on the way into the airport.) This island is more agricultural than Maui and the big island because it is older and the volcanic rocks have turned into very fertile soil. Its hard to imagine that the beautiful beaches on this island, were at one time like the rocky shores of the big island. Each photo is a thumbnail.
