Auburn is the county seat for Placer County. Placer county was made famous by the California gold rush. Thousands emigrated into the county during this period in search for gold. The county got its name from they type of mining that was wildly used during this time, placer mining. Auburn has some mementos of being the seat of one of the most prosperous counties in California. However, Auburn has more of a small town feel to it now (though it is still fairly big). Here are some pictures of Auburn, commemorating its past.
