Castle Rock

These pictures are of a monolith in the Sierra Nevada’s near a town called Castlerock. I believe this impressive series of outcroping gave the town its name. It sort of resembles a castle I guess, but it reminds me more of the mountains that ancient fortresses were built on such as in Argos Nauplion and Mycenae in Greece. Perhaps that’s where it got its name.
