These pictures are from what I am calling the Lake Tahoe region because they are scenic or landscape photographs from around an alpine lake called Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe is the largest Alpine lake in the United States. Lake Tahoe is located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains near Reno and is a Mecca for outdoors lovers year round. The natural beauty of the area is tremendous. In the summer time you have granite monoliths towering over the roads, lakes and streams. These Monoliths are liberally covered with conifer forests. There are numerous trails for hiking to just get away from it all and to become one with nature. In the winter time, snow liberally sprinkles the region, making for some of the best skiing in California and Nevada.
     I took some liberty of what I called the Lake Tahoe Region. For instance Auburn, the county seat for Placer County, is about two hours drive from Lake Tahoe. Again for Dutch flat, a small former mining town, I had some neat pictures but it is also about an hour and a half drive away.
     The rest of the places are on or fairly close to Lake Tahoe. I have two galleries from lake Tahoe. My pictures from North Shore are of the Northern side of Lake Tahoe during winter time. My pictures of Sand Harbor are spring time photos of a scenic and popular swimming area in Tahoe State park. I may be adding another collection of photos, from around South Lake Tahoe late in 2003. Lake Donner , of course is the lake named for the ill fated Donner party. My photos from Lake Spaulding area only has one shot of the lake Spalding. The rest of the photos are of Emigrant Gap, a scenic valley near the lake. Floriston is an off ramp on the interstate highway with very impressive cliff faces all around it that made for some spectacular photos. Mount Rose popular vacation spot that in the winter time offers great skiing and in the summer has great hiking. Castle Rock (I think it may really be peak) has tremendous cliffs that make for spectacular high Sierra photos. . Please send requests or comments to:
