example:
 
Step 1- Obtain 15 bean plants that are 10 cm tall and are in 3 inch clay pots with potting soil.
 
Step 2- Label bean plants as follows: ACME 1-5, GENERIC 6-10, NO FERTILIZER 11-15.
 
Step 3- While wearing safety goggles and gloves measure 1 gram of ACME Fertilizer. Be sure to use weighing paper to protect the balance. Carefully spread the ACME fertilizer around the
base of bean plant #1.
 
Step 4- Repeat step 3 for bean plants #2-#5.
 
Step 5- While wearing safety goggles and gloves use a triple beam balance to measure 1 gram of GENERIC Fertilizer. Be sure to use weighing paper to protect the balance. Carefully spread the Generic fertilizer around the base of bean plant #6.
 
Step 6- Repeat step 5 for bean plants #7-#10.
 
Step 7- Do not give any fertilizer to plants 11-15.
 
Step 8- Place all 15 bean plants on the same table near a sunny window.
 
Step 9- Use a 250 mL beaker to measure 100 mL of tap water. Carefully pour the water around the base of bean plant #1. Repeat for bean plants #2-#15.
 
Step 10- Measure the height from the dirt to the highest leaf of each bean plant with a ruler in
centimeters and record in the data table.
 
Step 11- Repeat steps 9 and 10 every other day for 14 days.
