FORMAL REPORT
(present experiment journal information in a formal written report format)

TOPIC RESEARCH PAGE
Label this section with the following underlined heading.
Background Research Information
(this is a 1 to 3 page summary of what you learned about your topic through background research)
EXPERIMENT DESIGN PAGE
Label each section with the following underlined headings.
Problem
(the question the experiment will answer)
Hypothesis
(an educated guess at the answer to the problem)
Independent Variable
(what is purposely changed before the experiment to test what will happen)
Dependent Variable
(what is measured numerically to answer the problem of the project)
Control
(part of the experiment without the independent variable)
Materials
(list of all necessary supplies, equipment, measurement devices and safety)
Constants
(factors kept the same that could change or affect the dependent variable of the experiment- dont forget to consider materials used)
PROCEDURE PAGE
EXPERIMENT WRITE UP PAGE
Label each section with the following underlined headings.
Results
(interpret the graphs and answer to the problem)
Conclusion
(restate hypothesis, state if it was correct and explain why using data numbers)
Applications
(something useful the results and conclusion can be used to do)
Recommendations
(changes in the procedure to make this experiment more reliable, accurate and thorough)
Summary
(briefly restate problem and answer to the problem)
GLOSSARY PAGE
10 vocabulary terms from report with definitions
highlight or underline these words in the report
