‘TEN LITTLE ASTRONAUTS’
said to ‘Ten Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed’

Ten little astronauts, blasting into space
One went to Mercury – a very hot place
Deep within a crater, he made his base
He collected rocks, in his suitcase
 -
Nine little astronauts, where they want to be
One went to Venus, to see what she could see
Shrouded in clouds, it’s the hottest place to be
Our morning star, evening star – it’s Venus that you see
-
Eight little astronauts,  in for a surprise
One went off to Mars,  red soil and pink skies
Valleys and volcanoes, she couldn’t believe her eyes
The biggest treat of all, was to see the two moons rise
-
Seven little astronauts, feeling really good
One checked out the asteroids, to count them if he could
Calculate their motions, someone should
Some of them have orbits, close to our neighborhood
-
Six little astronauts, hearing space call
One went off to Jupiter, the biggest planet of them all
It’s all gas and liquid, a giant striped ball
Nothing but storms, big and small
-
Five little astronauts, on a space flight
One went to Saturn, and found it quite a sight
Thousands of rings, some dark and some light
Over thirty moons – it’s truly a delight
-
Four little astronauts, loving what they do
One went off to Uranus, big and blue
No where to land, so round and round he flew
This planet is knocked sideways, yes it’s true
-
Three little astronauts, happiest you’ve seen
One went to Neptune, pretty bluish green
Another gaseous giant, it makes a pretty scene
It’s wonderful to go, where you’ve never been
-
Two little astronauts, having fun at play
One went to Pluto, very far away
Lots of rock and ice, it’s cold in every way
It’s the smallest planet, that’s all that he could say
-
One little astronaut, really was quite proud
Went past all the planets, to Oorts Cloud
Look at all these comets, she declared aloud
It really is amazing, it’s really quite a crowd
-
Ten little astronauts, it’s time to return
Time to come home, tell us what you’ve learned
Ten little astronauts, of our Earth and moon
Ten little astronauts, fly home soon!
