Last Update of this file:  8 Mar 2003.

Generation 4

2.  HENRY LEECH (JOHN3, JOHN2, DAVID1, UNKNOWN0) was born June 02, 1794, probably in Spartanburg County, SC, and died January 29, 1849 in (Rowletts) Hart Co. Ky. 55y 7m 26 d. He married ELIZABETH WILHELM October 23, 1823 in Barren Co. KY. She was born October 07, 1807 in KY, and died May 05, 1877 (again, Rowletts, Hart Co., KY).  Both are buried in the Leech Cemetery, near Rowletts, KY.

ELIZABETH WILHELM might be the daughter of GEORGE WILLHELM, who appears on page 57 (microfilm page 34), line 5, of the 1810 Census of Barren County, KY.  GEORGE WILLHELM is 16-26 years old (almost certainly in his mid-20s), as is his wife (he married ELIZABETH HOWDESHELT,  16 Feb 1804, Barren County, KY), they have 1 male under 10, 1 male 10 to 16, and 3 females under 10 in their household.

KY.  She married (1865/6) FRANCIS MARION BUNNELL, who was born 10 Dec 1846 and died 3 Nov 1905.  Both are buried are in the BUNNELL CEMETERY, "Near the Old Opossum Trot School house site, about 1 mile southwest of Fairview Christian Church."  FRANCIS MARION BUNNELL was the the son of  Samuel Washington Bunnel and Sarah Frances Smith and the nephew of John Calvin Bunnell.

Children of SARAH ANN LISHER LEECH and FRANCIS MARION BUNNELL include:

i.  ANTONIA BUNNELL, b. 1869, Hart County, KY.  Last Found 1880.
ii. CORA BUNNELL, b. 1 Aug 1875, Hart County, KY.  d. 12 Apr 1914.  Last Found 1910.  She married UNKNOWN THOMPSON before the 1900 Census;  he died before the 1900 Census.  She married WILLIAM M QUISENBERRY prior to the 1910 Census.  She had had one child at the time of the 1910 Census, no children still living.
iii. One other child born after 1880 census, still living at the time of the 1900 Census, but not in their household.
iv. Child died before the 1900 census, and probably before the 1880 Census.
v. Child died before the 1900 census, and probably before the 1880 Census.
vi. Child died before the 1900 census.

Sources:
(1) Gorin, Hart Co. births has FRANCIS M. BUNNELL's wife as SARAH M. SHANNON of Metcalfe County, and his brother GEORGE W. BUNNELL's wife as SARAH A. LEECH.  Note, though, that the two SARAH BUNNELLs were near neighbors, and both gave birth to daughters in August, 1875.  I believe instead that the recording physician swapped the identities of the two SARAH BUNNELLs; this makes the census ages seem less crazy than they would otherwise be.  Also, it doesn't result in one and only one member of each couple being buried in the BUNNELL CEMETERY.
