DESCENDANTS of JOHN SIMEON OWEN

JOHN SIMEON OWEN is the grandson of JOHN LEECH and ELEANOR McHENRY

JOHN SIMEON OWEN is the son of WILLIAM PETER OWEN and TABITHA OWEN

Last Update of this file:  15 Sep 2002.

Generation 5

23.  JOHN SIMEON OWEN ,  (TABITHA4 LEECH OWEN, JOHN3, JOHN2, DAVID1, UNKNOWN0), b. June 24, 1831, Hart Co. Ky; d. 23 Mar 1915.  m. ANN REBECCA BASS; b. 1839/40.  ANN REBECCA BASS is probably the daughter of TYRA B. and DORINDA BASS.  ANN is not in this household in 1880; presumably she died between 1877 and 1880 (see below).  JOHN SIMEON OWEN and ANN REBECCA BASS were married 3 Feb 1856 in Hart County, KY.

Children of JOHN SIMEON OWEN and ANN R. BASS are:

95.  IDALINE T OWEN . b. Mar 18, 1858.  She married Amos W. RICHARDSON, 18 Oct 1881, Hart Co., KY.
96. ii.  BERIAH MCGOFFIN OWEN (son) b. Oct 28 1859.  d. 13 Nov 1910
iii. Lannie T.OWEN (son) b. Aug 20 1861.  d. before 1870.  Not in his parents' household, 1870.
iv. Bettie W. OWEN, b. 1865/6
97. v.  WILLIAM ROBERT OWEN , b. 14 Mar 1867, d. 23 Oct 1965. Buried in Horse Cave Cemetery.
vi.  DORINDA F. OWEN, b. Feb 12, 1869, d. Oct 9, 1943.  Buried Green Hill Cemetery, Davis, Murray County, OKLAHOMA.  She married JOHN T. HILL, b. Jul 2, 1851 (Alabama), d. Feb 2, 1923 (Davis, Murray County, OKLAHOMA).
vii. John H. OWEN, b. 1873/4.
98. viii.  Edward G. OWEN , b. Sept 1874.
99. ix.  ADA ANN OWEN , b. April 1877.  Still in her father's household, 1900.

All but one of these children were alive in 1900; as LANNIE does not appear even in the 1870 census, I assume he died sometime in the 1860s.  Gorin, Hart County Births, also has 02-00-1982, OWENS --- (female), daughter of J J and A BASS OWENS (HART-TAYLOR).  I can't see where this could be right if this is the same couple.

JOHN SIMEON OWEN married SALLIE A. R. E. UNKNOWN (possibly RIVERS?) in 1881/2.  She was born June 1851, and was still alive in 1920.  Children of JOHN SIMEON and SALLIE A. R. E. OWEN are:

x. JAMES BOYCE OWEN, b. Oct 1889.  Not married as of the 1920 census.
100. xi. MARY RIVERS OWEN ,
xii.  One other child died before the 1900 census.
