Looking for a place to go fishing? Here we have a complete listing for (almost) every piece of water that can sustain fish life in the State of Utah. I've also included descriptions, directions, fishing regulations and record catches. Looking for a particular piece of water? First select the proper A-Z category link below. @Uintah Moutain Lakes & Streams - Contains hundreds of lakes, most of which do support fish life. Species that can be found include; Rainbow, Cutthroat, Brown, Brook, and Golden Trout, along with Splake and Artic Grayling. This area is the home of the Catch-and-Release record (19" on 07/17/99) for Artic Grayling.

Covering streams and lakes in Utah within the boundary beginning on I-80 at the Utah-Wyoming state line southwest of Evanston, Wyoming and continuing southwest along I-80 to US-40 (near Park City) then East along US-40 to Vernal, Utah, then North along Highway 44 to Manila, Utah, then West on Highway 43 to the Utah-Wyoming state line, then West and North along the Utah-Wyoming state line back to the beginning point at I-80):

  • BONUS limit of 4 brook trout (total limit of no more than 8 trout if at least 4 are brook trout).

@Uintah River - Contains Rainbow, Brown, Brook and Cutthroat Trout. Stocked with Rainbow catchables. Camping in the area.

@UM Creek - Contains Cutthroat and Brook Trout. Located in Sevier and Wayne Counties. Elevation is over 8,000 feet. This wild trout (not stocked) stream is located north of Loa off Highway 72 (empties into Forsyth Reservoir). Forest Service campgrounds in the area. Fish are small and numerous.

Upstream from Forsyth Reservoirs:

  • ARTIFICIAL FLIES AND LURES ONLY
  • CLOSED to the possession of Cutthroat Trout or trout with Cutthroat markings.

@Upper Kents Lake Inflow - Located in Beaver County.

Inflow approximately 900 feet, from the mouth up to the waterfall:

  • CLOSED January 1 through 6 a.m. on the second Saturday of July (July 12).

@Upper Sand Cove Reservoir - Contains Bass. This small reservoir is located between Veyo and Gunlock (near St. George).

@Upper Stillwater Reservoir - Contains Rainbow, Cutthroat and Brook Trout. Recently filled. Expect slow fishing.

@Utah Lake - Contains White Bass, Largemouth Bass; Walleye; Channel and Bullhead Catfish; Carp; Suckers (the June Sucker is endangered and must be left alone) and a few Trout (mostly in the mouths of the rivers entering into the lake). Located in Utah County. Elevation 4,485 feet. West of Provo. State park, several marinas, boat ramps, camping, picnic areas, motel/hotels available in nearby towns. Excellent walleye and white bass runs in the early spring. White bass are numerous and stunted. The state angling record (4lbs. 1oz. in 1970) and the Catch-and-Release record (15 1/2" on 06/24/01) for White Bass call this lake home.

  • Geneva Bubble-up. Closed to fishing between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. January 1 through 7 a.m. the last Saturday of April (April 26) in the area starting from the southwest corner of the Lindon Marina Dike, south to an intersection with a line running west from the south dike of the Geneva Pond Dike, as posted.
  • Walleye limit: 6; but only 1 over 20 inches.
  • Largemouth and smallmouth bass limit: 6. All largemouth and smallmouth bass over 12 inches must be immediately released.

@Utah Lake Tributaries West of I-15 - Located in Utah County.

Including but not limited to - American Fork Creek, Beer Creek, Dry Creek, Hobble Creek, Provo river, Spanish Fork river, Spring Creek and Spring Run Creek:

  • CLOSED March 1 through 6 a.m. May 1.

@Vernon Reservoir - Contains Rainbow and Brown Trout. Located in Tooele County by following the signs south of Vernon. Small reservoir popular with fly fishermen. Primitive camping nearby.

  • Fishing from a boat with a gas engine is PROHIBITED (an electric motor may be used).

@Virgin River - Contains Rainbow Trout along Highway 22 between U-24 and U-12. Near Zions National Park it gets muddy and only contains some endangered suckers form then on. The north fork contains trout north of Zion National Park and south of Navajo Lake.

@Wales Reservoir - Contains Largemouth Bass.

@Washington Lake - Located in the Provo River drainage of Summit County.

  • Fishing from a boat with a motor of any kind is PROHIBITED.

@Weber River - Contains Rainbow, Brown, Brook and Cutthroat Trout; Rocky Mountain whitefish; Suckers. Stocked with catchables every two weeks all summer. Take Interstate 84 east from Odgen. River follows the road. The river has been dammed to make Echo and Rockport reservoirs. Campgrounds, picnic areas, and motels and cafes in the nearby communities. An 18 pound brown was taken here in 1987. Mostly private ground. The state's angling record (6lbs. 6oz. in 1988) for the Utah Sucker was caught out of this river.

From the first I-80 bridge upstream from Echo Reservoir (near Exit 164) upstream to I-80 bridge near Wanship (near Exit 156):

  • Trout limit 2
  • ARTIFICIAL FLIES AND LURES ONLY

@Wellsville Reservoir - Located in Cache County.

  • CLOSED January 1 through May 25.

@West Cross Canyon Pond - Located in San Juan County.

  • CLOSED to the possession of Largemouth Bass.

@West Fork Duchesne River - Located in Duchesne and Wasatch Counties.

From confluence with North Fork to headwaters including Wolf Creek:

  • ARTIFICIAL FLIES AND LURES ONLY
  • ONLY 2 may be Cutthroat Trout or trout with Cutthroat markings.
  • CLOSED January 1 through 6 a.m. on the second Saturday of July (July 12).

@Wheeler Creek - Located in Weber County.

  • CLOSED approximately 1/4 mile from SR-39 to confluence with Ogden River.

@White River - Contains Catfish. Located in Uintah County.

  • Channel Catfish limit: 24

@Whiterocks River - Contains Cutthroat and Brook Trout. Fishing is best in the beaver ponds. Managed as a wild trout stream. Camping in the area.

@Whitney Reservoir Tributaries - Located in Summit County.

  • CLOSED January 1 through 6 a.m. on the second Saturday of July (July 12).

@Wide Hollow Reservoir - Contains Rainbow Trout. Elevation is 5,800 feet. One mile west of Escalante. Escalante Petrified Forest State Reserve is nearby. Campgrounds and modern restrooms. Boat ramp.

@Willard Bay - Contains Walleye; Channel Catfish; Largemouth Bass; Black Bullhead; Black Crappie, Wiper, and Gizzard Shad. Elevation is 4,220 feet. Locatd in Box Elder County. Access is available along the south end by exiting off I-15 at the Pleasant View exit, Then west and follow the signs to the inlet channel. Access to the north end is off I-15 at Willard. State park campgrounds, boat ramps, swimming beach, modern restrooms. Excellent walleye run in early spring. Excellent catfishing all summer (best in late evening or night). Gets heavy boat use (water skiing) during the summer. Fish early or late. Both the angling record (5lbs. 15oz. in 1998) and Catch-and-Release record (23 1/4" on 05/15/01) for Wiper come from this body of water.

  • Crappie limit: 10
  • Wiper (hybrid white bass x striped bass) limit: 6
  • Walleye limit 6; but only 1 over 20 inches.
  • Possession of gizzard shad, dead or alive, is unlawful.

@Willard Bay Reservoir Inlet Channel - Located in Box Elder County.

From the buoyed start of the channel near the South Marina boat ramp up the channel to the second set of baffles. This does not include the South Marina proper or the normal boating channel out of the South Marina into the reservoir:

  • Crappie limit: 10
  • Walleye limit 6; but only 1 over 20 inches.
  • Possession of gizzard shad, dead or alive, is unlawful.
  • CLOSED March 1 through 6 a.m. on the second Saturday of April (April 26).

@Willow Park Pond - Located at approximately 6100 S. 1000 W. Murray City, in Salt Lake County. Willows Pond, is the first fishing water to be constructed for children in the Salt Lake Valley.

  • CLOSED to fishing when pond is ice covered.
  • Limit 4 fish (Daily bag and possession limit is a total of 4 fish in the aggregate for all species, for example: 1 trout, 2 channel catfish and 1 bluegill.)

@Wolf Creek - Located in Duchesne and Wasatch Counties.

  • ARTIFICIAL FLIES AND LURES ONLY
  • Only 2 trout may be Cutthroat Trout or trout with Cutthroat markings.
  • CLOSED January 1 through 6 a.m. on the second Saturday of July (July 12).

@Woodruff Creek Reservoir - Contains Cutthroat Trout; Rocky Mountain Whitefish. Elevation 6.700 feet. Southwest of Woodruff. Travel on U-39 about 60 miles east of Ogden. No camping facilities, small boat gravel launch site.

@Yankee Meadow - Contains Rainbow and Brook Trout. Take Highway U-143 east from Parowan. Turn left at Five Mile. follow the signs. Camping nearby.

@Yankee Meadow Reservoir Inlet - Located in Iron County.

  • CLOSED January 1 through 6 a.m. on the second Saturday of July (July 12).

@Yearns Reservoir - Contains Rainbow Trout. Stocked with catchables. 100% open. No boat ramp. Some camping. Small reservoir mostly of local interest. Access in Manti up the local canyon.

@Yellowstone River - Contains Rainbow, Brook and Cutthroat Trout. Stocked with catchable Rainbow. Camping in the area.

@Yuba - (Sevier Bridge Reservoir) Located in Juab and Sanpete Counties. The angling record (2 lbs. 11 oz. in 1984), along with the Catch-and-Release record (15 1/4" on 03/04/00) for Yellow Perch, and the state angling record (25 lbs. 0 oz. in 2002) for Northern Pike now call this body of water home.

  • CLOSED to the possession of yellow perch.
  • All yellow perch must be immediately released.
  • Walleye limit: 6; but only 1 over 20 inches.
