BANC Newsletter - February 2002
by Charles Jackson

Welcome to yet another year of fishing with B.A.N.C.  I would like to start this year by introducing the new officers.

President: Charles Jackson
Vice President: Wayne Hodge
Treasurer: Wayne Antoine
Secretary: Marcus Lamply
Sgt. of Arms: Mark Daniels, Sr.

Angling Committee for 2002
Harry Pali, Roland Hollins, Harvey Pullium, Rob Park, Aaron Jones

There will be three alternates that will be asked to volunteer their services. All officers will be held to the highest of standards. B.A.N.C. will also hold it's members to a higher standard.  There have been a few rule changes but every member will receive a copy at a later date. I can not stress enough that none of the rules should be broken by anyone this year. It simply will not be tolerated period. I hope that I am very clear on this. Thank you in advance for your total cooperation in this. As this will help the club to become the model for other clubs to follow.

The T.O.C.
There will be a change. We will now have the top 15 go to the T.O.C. instead of the traditional 10. This change was made to give more people the opportunity to make it in. I hope everyone finds this to their liking. So let's keep the intensity level high and let the battle begin. But be safe and play fair.

Reflections From 2001
Rather dwell on the negative things that happened in 2001. Let's look at the positives and there was many. The level of competition seemed to be at an all-time high, as well as the number of participants at each and every event. The numbers were unreal. I guess the amount of fun we were having even brought out some of the old timers like Greg Simpson, Pa Kettle, and so on. It was really good to see you out here with us. There were new members with nice new boats. Members telling their friends about the club. Just good fun all the way around.

Results From 2001 Points
Angler of the Year - Charles Jackson
Second Place - Tom Mulliken
Third Place - Larry Cooper
Fourth Place - Wayne Antoine
Fifth Place - Speedy Griffin

The top five anglers exhibited great tenacity in their quest for "Angler of the Year" honors and it came down to the wire for the second year in a row. It took the angler to the last tourney of hte year for the champion to be decided. And once again Charles Jackson had the Where-With-All to pull it out again, making him only second person to repeat angler of the year. Larry Cooper is the only other. Let's see who can unseat Charles this year.

T.O.C. Results for 2001

First Place - Speedy Griffin
Second Place - Marcus Lamply
Third Place Tie -Larry Cooper & Tom Mulliken

WELCOME

Hello, BANC members I hope this newsletter find you and your families in good health. For those of you that attended the first meeting of 2000 a heart filled thanks go out to you. There were 22 members at the first meeting. There will be at least three more meetings this year. As that was voted on by the members in attendance.

NEW MEMBERS - B.A.N.C. would like to welcome several new members to the club or should I say family. Lynwood Adams, Stacey Brown, Anthony Brown, and Kelvin Verrett. We hope that B.A.N.C. is everything you expect it to be.

DRAW FORMAT - The attending members also voted on changing the call around system, to the draw system. The draw system will not affect the team tournaments. The draw system will work as follows: Every boater that shows up for each tournament will have his name placed in a hopper. Each non-boater will pull from the hopper, and that will be the pair for that tournament. If by chance the same people pair up twice in a row the non-boater has the option to draw again.

TEAMS - The only time members can call around is for the team tournaments in which this year there were two that were scheduled the last being the Berryessa tournament.

Classifieds - Chades Jackson is the chief editor of the B.A.N.C. newsletter and is solicitating any and all feedback from members. This information can cover state wide fisheries, sales of items or request to buy items i.e. boats trucks, cars, trollingmotors etc. Also any services one may offer.

SAFETY - Safety is always a major priorty in our lives so let's remember to practice it on the water as well. It is a must to have all proper safety equipment onboard...

Hello I would like to welcome you all to a new and hopefully exciting year fishing with B.A.N.C. This year will be a special year for many reasons.

First of all the angling committe was very commited to being organized and timely with information. Also I expect to be able to get the newsletters to each and everyone of you in a timely matter as I have become more experienced on the computer. And last but certainly not least the new format that we have come up with this year. As you are all aware it's the new year and a new millennium and to keep up with the times somtimes you have to make change, and a change has been made this year indeed. We (BANC) implemented a T.O.C into our format this year in hopes to make it a little more exciting for you this year. To qualify for the T.O.C. all you have to do is finish in the top ten. No don't worry we didn't throw out the points and angler of the year format this is in addition to that. The field will be the top ten at the end of the year and they will have a free invatation with entrance fees already paid for. We will pay the top three Places and big fish there will also be plaques as well the winnings for the T.O.C. will come from five dollars out of everybodies membership dues. For the non-boater there will be donated boats for you to fish from if you qualify, piloted by the owner.

DUES: This year unfortunately we have to insist that you pay your dues in a timely manner. Your dues have to be paid before the first tournament of the year or there will be a five dollar penalty thereafter. Enclosed is an envelope with the mailing label for those who wish to mail theirs in early.

Calendar of Events

The next general meeting will be held at Sam Wishom's house on January 23rd Directions are as follows... From I80 take Redwood east exit continue up about half mile to Doncaster make left turn right on Reynard several houses up on right side to 219 Reynard.

Well, it's been a long time since I last wrote. Sorry for the delay. We have five tournaments to cover in this issue. So let me start
by getting the Crenshaw memorial out of the way then we can get down to B.A.N.C. business. The turnout from the club was less
than we expected, but we would like to thank everyone who showed up and pitched in.

Now with that done let's get to the meat of the newsletter.

Lake Sonoma: This was another good turnout even though things got started a little shakey. Wayne Antoine forgot to get up so
he called me and asked me to handle things. Now I  see why you're so important. It's a tough job. 1st place went to Ed Lowe
who just so happened to be fishing with Delbert again. We're going to have to outlaw that! Good job Ed. 2nd place went to
Delbert, this must be a conspiracy. But a good job all the same, way to go Delbert. 3rd place went to Charles, who finally got
lucky. 4th place went to Jason, I tried to back seat him but he's just a good stick. Way to go "J". 5th place went to Roland, good
job Roland.

Delta: The next tournament was Holland. 1st place was Delbert who came in with a "hog" like my grandfather would say, over
9 lbs., damn good job Delbert. 2nd place was Jason who isn't tired of taking our money this year, yet! Good job Jason. 3rd place
was Mark Daniels Jr., way to go Mark. 4th place was Tom G., good job Tom. 5th place went to Wayne Antoine Sr., mister
dependable, yeah right, good job Wayne.

Clear Lake 2 day Tournament: Now on the main event this tournament didn't seem to draw that interest but the diehards showed
up a usual. The First day was a bummer for some as was the case for me, but let's not dwell on that! Let's talk about the man
that has won 5 events this year alone. Jason Cordiale. Jason took 1st and had everyone thinking he would repeat the next day.
2nd place went to Mark Jr., who I found sleeping on the deck the night before. A young kid that really loves fishing. 3rd place
was Wayne Crump, a man who has just laid back and quietly moved into 2nd place in overall points. Good job Wayne.
4th place was Mark Sr., good job Mark. 5th place went to Wayne Antoine Sr. Wayne Jr. must of stayed home girl chasing,
because we all know who the real stick is (just kidding). Day Two was a whole different day. Some of the guys figured out the
pattern and some didn't have a clue. 1st place Wayne Crump over

Classifieds

This year I can't believe that  I haven't heard from anyone that wants to sell anything. Or have a product to endorse or even
some information to share. B.A.N.C. is a place for us to come and enjoy and learn from each other. So if ther are any new
techniques or lures to try... the classifieds are a good place to put this info. If you pour your own baits and would like to share
your wares with others in the club, or even if you have a service to provide. You can feel free to drop Charles a line.

Words from the President

To all the members of B.A.N.C., Thank You for coming out this year and making this club a success and something that you
all can be proud of, because it is you, the membership, that makes this club what it is, not me. Let's continue to build this
into a model for other clubs to follow. Remember just keep it fun, that's what we're all about. A bunch of guys who love
bass fishing. That's our motto. So thanks again.

Your President, Wayne Antoine Sr.
