DYNAMITE GAME LINKS !
Hey Dude!!, That slow modem won't do! Get a faster one..and quick! That fuse is burning.. fast !

The "Games Page" is being updated, Thanks to all that wrote in with link updates. In the mean time please be patient with any outdated links. Sorry about the delay in updating

Remember, sites come and go. If it's here today and gone tomorrow, it has moved or no longer exists in the form presented...as of January 1, 1997 this is the most up to date list. If you find a "dead link" I would appreciate a message letting me know about it.

~ TheList ~
In no particular order, the text tells the tale

Conxtion's...The Games Place This is a "best of the best" site on the Web! It has won many awards and no wonder, with every "Hot" game on the web listed by catagory and every game company listed alphabetically (with a "quick key search" to boot!) For all practical purposes you needn't even read any farther down this list...! Go here and you will find the most popular games available, sitting there waiting to be downloaded. "Conxtion's" site also has Telnet capabilty for those of you who want to use it. "Conxtion" is a large site with many links to many parts of the Web, I just gave you the link to the games section. Here is the link to the Game Company listings A very well done site. It earns my "Site of the Month" award !

The Game Head Page is the biggest and most thorough site for games, period. As far as I am concerned, any other site pales by comparison. The site contains descriptions of each game, an alphabetical search facility and if you don't want to waste time a direct link to the site's FTP area. The thing that strikes me most about this site is the games are from old times to new, where most other sites stick to the newer games only. This site is my "Pick of the Year !" It is outstanding !

The Best Games in the Universe Page is a part of the game head site. The name speaks for the contents. The page is split in two. The first choice available is an FTP link to the software...Note!! the link given has a typo and sends you to their old sight instead....If you want to FTP to the correct site, click Right Here ! The rest of the page is dedicated to more links !

The "Game Head Page" has added another section to their site. This is the best yet! They have added a Continuosly self updating FTP site ! This site has direct links to all the big name game sites for most platforms; DOS, WINDOWS, OS/2, MAC, UNIX, LINUX. Fully automated, the site is constantly updating it's inventory of files. If you need a game, you will very likely find exactly what you are looking for through this site.!

The CICA FTP Site is loaded with games for Windows and Windows 95. This site is mirrored via Pacific High Techs automated update system. This means you will get the latest and greatest as soon as it's available. Download their index and print it. Make sure you have lot's of paper though. This site is rated the largest games FTP site in the world.

The SIMTEL FTP Pages are for those of you who would rather play a DOS based game, not that this site doesn't have Windows pages too! This site is similar to the "cica" site listed above... If you download and print the index, sit back and relax, you have a lot of reading to do! :-)

Peters Top Ten 3D Games is the place to go for games such as Duke Nukem, Doom, and other 3D type games.

Pacific tech's "The DOS Games Site" is loaded to the hilt with all DOS games...Who says you "Gotta Have" Windows ! :-) ?

Pacific Tech's "The Windows Games Site" is up to date and loaded with Windows games. For the folks who say you "Gotta Have" Windows !. :-)

The "Games Domain" is probably one of the best game sites on the net. If you enjoy playing games and don't mind large downloads to get some excellent demo's, you will enjoy the "Games Domain" This area is updated almost daily so you won't miss the latest demo of a new game. The Games Domain has both PC and MAC software. It is catagorized by type (Demo or Shareware etc) and operating environment (DOS/ Windows). Due to the high volume of traffic on this site they recommend newcomers check out their "F.A.Q." (frequently asked questions) site

The PC Gamer Site is published by the magazine of the same name. If you want the latest and greatest, this is the place to get it. Excellent site with links to cheat pages, patch pages and of course game sites. If you want to get the magazine the site covers aspects of that also, including their monthly CD offering. The site is catagorized which makes browsing for a particular type of game much easier too !

" Zork Nemesis" is now playable Online ! (one level) The Activision Site now has "Zork Nemesis" in a playable area (you will need the "shockwave" plugin to play it, it you need shockwave click HERE The site also has it's older, text versions of the game availble for download (Zork I) ZorkI is supposed to be the basis for the new Nemesis chapter of a game that has been around since the early 80's.!!

Here is a site I should have added a long time ago. It has grown enormously (over a thousand games!!) in a short time. It's Lord Soth's Game Page ! The site is kept current and is loaded with games for DOS, Windows and Windows 95 !

The PCM&E "Adrenaline Zone" is a great launching point to many links. Great site but the server is busy so expect some slow response time.

The Lucas Arts Site is your stop for "Dark Forces" and the Luca's team's choice of fine software.

The "Interplay's Other Sites" location is fine for all of you who have more than a PC. In addition to PC games, it offers access to sites for Gameboy, 3DO, Sega, Ninetendo etc. This is a site that suits the needs of everyone young and old !.

The "PC Gaming Magazine" site is for those of you who enjoy reading and then playing the games you have read about. This is a link from Ziff-Davis Publishing, a great link that leads in all directions such as games, reviews of equipment, links to their publications (PC Magazine etc.) finance, etc. You name it they have it or a link to it!!. Take your pick here, will it be games or the "Ziffnet" ?

Are you the type who enjoys playing a good old "Shoot em Up" If you are then you will want to pay a visit to ID Software (of DOOM fame.) There site is loaded with new levels for DOOM I and DOOM II. Of course there are the cheat sheets available if you look for them.

If you are one of those folks that wants to know what kind of software is coming out and you can't wait for a "peek" try Borland Software's Site They are always sending out demo's of their software before they ship the full program. It's good for them because they get to have us be their "Beta Testers" and it's good for us because we get to play a few levels of a new game without having to pay for it..!

Another very good site that is similar to Borlands is Interplay Software They have a similar policy of giving you a taste of their software so you can tell if you really want to buy the game or simulator that looks so good on the box.

The Accolade Game Arcade. Although this site is a bit on the sparse side, if you want a demo of an Accolade Game, here is where they are.

For those of you that don't mind spending a little extra cash (if you want more time) try the Software Creations Web BBS This Bulletin Board Service is very good and very elaborate. They allow you a limited amount of time as a visitor but to get any real time on the site even though you are interfacing with it through the web you pay for the BBS time. It may well be worth it for those of you who want a more intimate environment as this is a well taken care of BBS.The file area is Superb!

"Video Game Lair" is a small stock but big ticket site. Although the site is not crammed with files, the ones that are there are the ones you have heard about and probably been looking for. Descent (the latest rev.) Doom, Terminal Velocity to name just a few. This is what you might call your "Gucci's" of download sites.

Another fantastic site to be added to this list is Electronic Arts Center. This is a new addition to this home page but a company that has been around for years, putting out some first quality software. Their home page looks a bit on the conservative side at first but don't let outward appearances fool you, each click of the mouse will bring you into a different area of Electronic Arts "Java Enhanced" Web site. They have just released several new games!! This is a site that will lead in almost all directions to other great game sites for both young and old.

If you enjoy the "3D Engine" type games such as Doom, Terminal Velocity and the one that started it all, "Wolfenstein." Look no further. The Capstone Home Page ! is where you want to head. Their popular game (and demo) "Witch Haven." has a new revision, "Witch Haven II" These demo's have great sound effects and the game itself is played in an old castle, giving it a dark and mysterious atmosphere that suits the name of the game! Of course there are more demo's for you to try while you're there so warm up the modem! These files are from the two through seven meg range, so be prepared to spend some time at this site, the demo's are worth it !

The "Gamers Ledge" and now for Macintosh users the "Macintosh Gamers Ledge" is the "Mother Lode" of sites for all you gamers. It is a list of every game company software site on the Internet. The sites are listed in alphabetical order with many of them accompanied by their Logo, making them easy to find. Most of these sites offer demo's of their software. If ever there is a "one stop shop" site to gaming software companies on the Internet, this is it. The Gamers Ledge is another "must see."

The Official Duke Nukem 3D Arsenal page is open for business. If you like the game you will love the site. Links to pages with Patches, Pictures, Cheat Codes, Maps, Demo's. Here is one of those links...A great download spot for you "Duke Heads" Adrenalian Zone's Duke 3-D Page the "Zones" page is the place to download the cheats, maps, pictures etc. The "Official" page is a more of a jumping off point to Duke 3-D's FTP and HTTP sites. Both these sites use the "Echospeech" plug in for Netscape if you want to hear "Duke" greet you when you log into these pages, download "Echo Speech," now...!

The Trimark Entertainment site is for those of us with "The Hive" (my favorite game) or those who would like a demo. It has a patch to make the game play a bit easier and a "cheat code" to access any level you want.! (Great for those of you, like myself, had save games just disappear. Want the "code word" right now ?? CLICK ME and I will pop it up on the screen, along with an explanation about the save game problem.

For those of you who you may want to know things "by the numbers" try the Net PC Games Top 100 site. As the name implies the site lists the top 100 pc-games in order of popularity. Although this sight does not offer downloads it's still a fascinating site. Programs are judged by folks that want to enroll in the program; they supply feedback to the author on a numeric scale. The data is compiled and listed. At the time of this writing "Doom II" was still the games leader. This site also evaluates other types of software such as application or financial.

For good family entertainment (for young children particularly) check out the Creative Wonders Home Page Although this site is not a download site, I have included it because of the many requests I have received for sources of childrens software and what is available in that catagory. This site is a "catalog" of software, full of all kinds of fun and educational games for children and the whole family. From ABC/Electronic Arts, this site offers lots of images so if you have a young one around, show it to him or her. They will no doubt recognize some of the many characters they will see !!

T he above site is nice to look at but hey, the kids want to play games! As adults we want them to learn. Why not combine the two? Pacific High Tech's Education Page is loaded with challenging educational games for both adults and children. After browsing their site, it was clear the emphasis was on teaching children...They have an enourmous database dedicated to childrens educational software. And don't forget your never "too old" to learn !!

Activsion's Game Page is a great place for all you "MECH WARRIOR II" Fans out there...The site has the latest patches etc.

Now here is a "cool site" You get to demo the game right online! GTE's Demo Site is showing off their latest games using the Shockwave plug in for Netscape. If you don't have it here is the place to get Shockwave.

Titanic ! Adventure out of Time, is a great "Shockwave" demo from the above GTE site. This is just a short cut to the page that I found best at GTE.

Acclaim Nation will get you to the Acclaim site and it's demos.

Anarchy Entertainment's Home Page is another software vendor that would like you to see what they have to offer.

Elpin's Game Page is waiting for you to drop by and check them out !

Looking Glass has a couple of pretty good demo's. Not just for the PC either. For the Mac users out there, they have an interesting flight demo called "Flight Unlimited."

Microforum's Demo Page is loaded with plenty of Demo's, shareware, freeware and of course links to similar sites. It has one 30 meg download for those of you who like to exercise their modems!

Lucas Arts Home Page Not much to download, some patches though. For "Star Wars" fans and other George Lucas film fans, this site should spark some interest.

Media Age has a site for one of their games.

Microprose's site is set up in two. First section is the home page and the second is the Microprose FTP site a very nice site.! Loaded with demo's and more demo's..!!!

Online game playing anyone ?? The "Kali" Site is the place to go.!! Superb graphics and a great story line make this is first rate site.

Anarchy Entertainment's "Dread Page" Is a "I wanna play a game on the web" type site. This site is great! Log in and start to play "Dread;" a game that is a cross between "Adventure" and "Zork" . Very nice graphics!! An excellent interface that works !!

Malichite's Site small, home brew but nice software.

Microforum Software is showing off their demos, "Expect no Mercy" has gotten good reviews, the demo is available here (it's 30 megs !!)...

New World Computing is offering much of their software in demo form. They have both PC and MAC versions of most of their software making this a fine site for both computers....try it.

Would you like to win a million dollars for solving a game?? Treasure Quest is offering just that to the person who can solve their "Treasure Quest" game...no, it's not a joke or gimmick! Before you get your hopes up too high though, be forewared the clues in this game are very difficult to solve. As of this writing the game has not been solved yet so the million is still waiting...Oh yes, for the hackers out there...the answer to the game is not on the CD...You have to figure that out in your head...too bad, no disassembler is going to help with this one. The first puzzle is already solved and the writers show you how you "derive" the answer...after reading it, I was more confused about the method of getting the answer than the answer itself...check this one out..!!!

Origin's Home Page has plenty of demos, patches etc. for all their games. The site is set up for both the PC and the MAC so both sides of the computing fence will be happy.

The Parallax Site is for all you "Descent" fans. This is the site for everything you want or need for Descent or the new Descent II. This site is also Mac compatible.

Phillips is showing off the new "Voyeur II" the original "Voyeur" was a hit. Let's hope that Voyeur II can be as good.!!

Sega's Site is listed for those that want to see the latest offerings from Sega for both the PC and the Sega Genesis, etc.

The Sanctuary Site has a great selection of Demo CD's to order for the price of shipping "cheap"

The 7th Level has plenty to download. Get the Monty Python "Complete waste of Time" demo. It's a laugh a minute.

The VR Sports site is the place for all you sports enthusiasts. Great demo's of Soccer, Golf, Snooker, etc. These are great games...! They run in DOS but you would swear it was Windows...the graphics are spectacular.!

Where's Waldo say's it all doesn't it? Great site for the kids. Good demo game to download.

Bad Mojo is a great game and an equally good site. Get the demo of Bad Mojo (if you like being a cockroach) and find out what it's like to survive when your only an inch high but very fast.! Other great demo's here too!

Blue Byte's site is a name not all that well known but the site is loaded with demos that will make it known.!!

Berkeley Systems Try it, You'll like it..and their products, like extra screen savers for "After Dark" and of course some games. While your in the site check out their "Web Max" Utilities..including web phone software, web page dowload programs and more.

Bethesda "Ars Est Celare Artum" This is a cool site! I was impressed enough to hang around for a few hours. Not your ordinary site by a long shot, this is a must see. You are a "Traveler" on a Quest...for what ?...that's part of the mystery. This is a site and an adventure game in one. Try it out! I guarantee you will be on it a few hours before you realize you came to get some of the demo software. They have plenty of that too!

Action Software's "Slice of Life" site is dedicted to shareware !! Try it before you buy it. You could spend a long time on this site downloading all the software they have made available. Of course they wouldn't want you to go away without laying out some cash, so they now have a "Cyber Keno" site!! Gamble while you browse!

Epic Mega Games has a first class set of demo's. If you are running Windows 95, try "Fire Fight" this is a 2 part download, one section is for the game play the other is for high resolution. Be sure to get them both! The game is well thought out for a "shoot em up" type of game. Of course they have other demos too!

Star Hill Productions would like you to take a look at some of their software..!

Enlight has a decent demo called "Capitalism". Gee, I wonder what the theme of the game is???

Domark is waiting for you to browse their site. They have demos of their latest software and it looks pretty good!.

What ? You already want to Cheat ? and you haven't even gotten through the list yet??? Ok, then...it's up to you. Here is a great "Cheat Site" that uses the "Universal Hint System" or UHS for short. The "UHS" is a program (downloadable from the site) that gives you bits of information about a game a little at a time, instead of dumping all the secrets at once. This way if you're stuck on just one aspect of the game or puzzle, you won't have the rest of the game ruined for you to solve on your own....(cheater!) :-) The "Official UHS" page
Here is a Mirror site for UHS in case the primary is busy. UHS mirror site at Games Domain.
Ok, Ok...! So your desperate for a clue, here's another mirror site UHS Mirror Site at HappyPuppy

- GAMING COMPANY SITES -

Electronic Arts
http://www.ea.com/

This bright and colorful Web site is a fair demonstration of why Electronic Arts' been on top for so long - it offers a visually stimulating presentation. Find news on EA's sports line (the division that made EA famous, with titles like Madden Football and the NHL series) and up-to-date information on sister companies like Bullfrog (developer of the PC favorite Magic Carpet).

Nintendo
http://www.nintendo.com/

The company whose name is synonymous with video games has released a next-generation gaming machine, the Ultra 64, but its Web site is much less electrifying than you'd expect. Visitors can choose a graphical version of the page, but first, they're greeted with a full page of text likely to leave them wondering if they're on the right site. Once you dig into the site, though, it's extensively packed with pictures of upcoming Ultra 64 games and news about the company.

Sega
http://www.segoa.com/>http://www.segoa.com

One of the biggest names in the gaming market has a well-rounded and useful place on the Web. And though it lacks splashiness or excitement, it uses a straightforward and clean-looking manner to give you plenty of info, including an extensive list of press releases and screen shots of upcoming titles.

Sony
http://www.sepc.sony.com/playstation

The newest member of the games industry has taken a slightly more corporate approach than many would have expected after seeing Sony's cutting-edge advertising campaign. It's simple to the point of being cold and somewhat uninviting, but if you're looking for information on Sony games or a (kind of slow) interactive graphic adventure, then you've come to the right place.

What? no more links? ...YES!, they are being added on a continuing basis. Keep coming back, there will be plenty more!
