Our Purpose

(from the 2002 Discipline of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church)

¶ 1135.14. Communication of Information and Technology (CIT) Ministry

§1. The CIT Ministry shall operate within the Department of Lay Ministry.

§2. It shall broadly serve the interest of the video, computer, and other advancing technologies of the C.M.E. Church.

§3. The investment to be made by the General Church shall be considered and determined by the General Conference.

§4. The General Secretary of Lay Ministry shall devise a plan of funding for equipment and operational needs of these ministries considering all potential avenues of revenue.

§5. A Director of Video Training, Director of Computer Literacy, and a Webmaster for the C.M.E. Church shall be named by the General Secretary in cooperation with the College of Bishops and other C.M.E. members well informed in these ministries. These directors shall develop their own operating procedures and seek to further advance these ministries at all levels in the C.M.E. Church.

§6. The Department of Lay Ministry shall pool these teams in ways that produce functional efficiency in Connectional Meetings.

§7. The General Secretary of Lay Ministry shall cooperate with the administrators of connectional venues to enlist the services of these ministries and devise the appropriate procedures.

 

Connectional CIT Ministry Committee

Representatives to the Connectional CIT Ministry Committee are appointed by their Presiding Bishop.  In addition to the leadership team, there are two representatives per Episcopal District.  
Committee members are well-informed in the areas of technology covered by the CIT Ministry. The committee is headed by the CIT Ministry Chairperson.  Below are profiles of some of the committee members.
DARRAN CAUDLE
Fifth Episcopal District
Darran is a member of Carter Tabernacle CME Church in Orlando, Florida Fifth Episcopal District. He served as the Executive Director of Serving This Generation TV Ministry for 9 years.  The television ministry aired weekly and reached over 2 million viewers. He trained, directed, designed and implemented standard operational procedures for over 40 volunteers. Darran has designed professional TV Broadcast Systems not only for Carter Tabernacle (with a membership of over 4,000) but also for the Connectional Church. Each year under the direction of Dr. Victor Taylor, Darran trains volunteers at the Annual CME Convocation. These volunteers train with a portable TV, Audio, Duplication & Lighting package that is owned by the Department of Lay Ministry. Darran has over 18 years of TV News experience and presently works as a Multi-Award Winning Chief Investigative Photojournalist for WKMG TV, a CBS Affiliate.
Rev. Stephen J. Delaine
Sixth Episcopal District
Rev. Delaine is the pastor of West Side Community C.M.E. Church in Atlanta, GA, Georgia North Region of the Sixth Episcopal District. He troubleshoots and builds computer systems and is well versed on most Microsoft products (e.g. Windows - 95 to XP, Word, Excel, Works, Publisher and PowerPoint), Lotus (primarily WordPro). He is a 1983 graduate of Lane College (Jackson, TN) and a 1986 Graduate of the Theological School of Drew University (Madison, NJ). Statistician of the Georgia, North Region.
Sharon Doss
Third Episcopal District
Sharon is a member of Mask Memorial in Lansing, MI, Michigan-Indiana Region, where her husband, Rev. A. Richard Doss is pastor.  She serves as webmaster for the Third Episcopal District website. Employed as an Information Technology Manager at DaimlerChrysler Corporation in Auburn Hills, MI, she has over 20 years of computer technology and process redesign experience, working with international and domestic clients. She holds a Bachelor of Public Affairs Degree and a Master of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems.
Theresa Duhart
Ninth Episcopal District
Theresa is a member of Christ Temple CME Church in Tacoma, Washington in the Alaska-Pacific Region of the Ninth Episcopal District. Theresa is the Recording Steward, Director of Christian Education, and Youth Sunday School teacher at Christ Temple; Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry at the District level; Annual Conference Secretary and Director of Young Adults at the Annual Conference level; Chair of the CIT Ministry and member of the General Connectional Board, and webmaster for the Ninth Episcopal District and Women’s Missionary Council. Involved in technology in all facets of her life, Theresa is Director of Technical & Desktop Support Services at the University of Puget Sound and a part-time computer instructor at Tacoma Community College.
Rev. David C. Isom
Ninth Episcopal District
Rev. Isom is the pastor of Miles Memorial in Tacoma, Washington; Alaska-Pacific Region, Ninth Episcopal District. A dual careered pastor, he is also Manager, Credit Services, Supreme Insulation, Inc.  He serves as Chairman of the Joint Board of Finance and Vice Chair of the Ministerial Examination Committee for the Alaska-Pacific Region.  Additionally, Rev. Isom has been appointed to the Charter Review Commission, Tacoma, WA, by the Deputy Mayor of City of Tacoma.   
Toni Jackson-Williams
Ninth Episcopal District
Toni is a member of Harper Chapel CME Church, serves on the board of Trustees, Southern California Region, Ninth Episcopal District. B.S. in Human Relations/Organizational Behavior from University of San Francisco. She is the Echoes Training Coordinator for Cook Communications Ministries. She is the owner of a Christian Educational Consulting Group. J-W Consultants.
REV. WAYNE W. MAYS
Third Episcopal District
Rev. Wayne W. Mays is the Pastor of Bowers Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri and the Presiding Elder of the Kansas District of the Third Episcopal District.  Elder Mays holds a B. S. Degree from the University of Houston and a Master of Divinity from Phillips School of Theology.  Elder Mays served as a Communications Officer in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Major with accomplishments such as Company Commander, Special Security Communications Officer and Operation "Desert Storm" veteran. He left the military to pursue God's calling upon his life for full-time ministry. In addition to his work as a Pastor and Presiding Elder, he can be heard on two Kansas City radio weekly broadcasts, "Power in the Word" and "Soul Food".   
Lauran Woodard James
First Episcopal District
Lauran is the Director of Multicultural Marketing for Lifeblood, the regional blood center in Memphis, TN.  She is responsible for educating the residents of Memphis and the surrounding areas concerning the importance of blood donations, especially in the African American community, where sufferers of sickle cell disease and other blood transfuseable diseases need ethnically-compatible blood to survive!  Lauran is a graduate of Lane College in Jackson, TN and did work on her Masters in Education at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR. She later worked on her MBA at Peperdine University in Los Angeles, CA. She is currently attending the University of Phoenix pursuing an MBA in Marketing. She is a Computer Software Instructor of 20+ years. She is a church musician and is married to Reverend Randy E. James, the proud pastor of Moody Chapel CME Church, Memphis, TN, West Tennessee Region of the First Episcopal District. Lauran, owner of CyberTrain Corporation, is the official webmaster for the C.M.E. church.  Member of West Tennessee Region of the First Episcopal District.

First Episcopal District
Reverend Randy E. James, the full-time pastor of the Moody Chapel CME Church of Memphis, TN, and co-owner, CyberTrain Corporation, a former Product Engineer for Detroit Diesel Allison Division of General Motors (15 years of service) holds a BS Degree in Business Administration from Grambling State University, a Master of Divinity degree from Memphis Theological Seminary and is currently three classes away from an MBA in Information Systems. He is a Member of the Northeast District of the West Tennessee Region of the First Episcopal District and is married to Lauran James, webmaster for the C.M.E. Church.
Michael Morgan
Second Episcopal District
Michael is retired from Lucent Technologies, owner and operator of MI-KO-TECH Computer Systems, Webmaster for the Second Episcopal District, and Second District Lay activities President. He is also a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Director at Stewart Memorial CME Church in Indianapolis, IN.
Princess Pegues
Forth Episcopal District
Princess is a retired business educator of 30 years.  She holds a B. S. degree in Secretarial Science, a B.S. degree in Business Education, and a Masters Degree in Secondary Education. She is Coordinator of the Louisiana Region Computer Learning Center. A member of the Louisiana Region of the Forth Episcopal District, she is Vice President of the Women's Missionary Council, past editor of the Missionary Messenger and currently editor of Forth Episcopal District Newsletter and Church Women United Newsletter of Louisiana. She has expertise in using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, PageMaker, WordPerfect and Microsoft Publisher, using both the PC and Macintosh.
