The Task

The complexity of the creation and building of the transcontinental railroad will be examined from five different perspectives.  Using this approach the class can jigsaw a complicated and involved period in the history of the United Sates.

The final product will include:

  • letters written from the characters bound in seperate team journals
  • maps for each of the teams
  • 3 dimentional designs representing each team
  • one page summaries in the form of newspaper articles set in the 1860's
