White Pass and Yukon Railroad

The White Pass & Yukon Route offers a breathtaking scenic rail trip from Skagway to the White Pass summit just over the Alaskan border. The train slowly passed through Gold Rush Cemetery, the resting-place for early Skagway gold rush residents including "boss" gangster Jefferson "Soapy" Smith and town hero Frank Reid. Both died as a result of their famous final gunfight. The forty mile, three hour round trip excursion goes from sea level to 2,865 feet in 20 miles. The narrow gauge railway traverses foreboding cliffs and sharp turns. Although the live views were always spectacular, the sun was not well placed for taking photos from inside the car and avoiding window reflections.

have been fantastic photo
