Synesthesia

The Board Members of the ASA

are pleased to announce

the Eighth National Meeting of

the American Synesthesia Association,

which will take place on

October 1 - 3, 2010,

at Vanderbilt University

in Nashville, Tennessee.

The meeting will be hosted by Randolph Blake and Ed Hubbard, Vanderbilt University, together with the Board Members of the ASA: Sean Day, Lawrence E. Marks, and Carol Steen.  The Vanderbilt Vision Research Center and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center are providing partial support for this year's meetings.

The Board Members of the ASA invite submission of abstracts from individuals wishing to make a presentation on any of the following: a scholarly paper, a discussion of creative aspects of synesthesia, a reading, a presentation of visual artwork, audio compositions, or video presentations. If you are interested in being considered for a presentation, please submit an abstract, no longer than 250 words.

Include your name, e-mail address, telephone contact number, and a short résumé (no more than two pages) or web-link to same.  The number of presentation slots will be limited, so there is no guarantee that a submission can be accepted.  Notifications will be made by July 31st.  Individuals are urged to attend even if they do not intend to make a presentation.

Please also list any audio-visual equipment, including podium and microphone, you might need for your presentation.  Please plan on limiting your presentation to 20 minutes (not including an additional 5 minutes for Questions & Answers) in length.

The abstract review board is representative of the diverse interests, talents, and approaches to exploring and experiencing synesthesia.  It includes artists, linguists, historians, and scientists, some of whom are synesthetes themselves.

DEADLINE for Abstract Submission: July 20th.

NOTIFICATION will be: July 31th.

Please submit your abstract, etc. on the ASA website.

Information on how to do that will be found on the ASA website soon.
