The American Rhododendron Society was incorporated in the Spring of 1945 in Portland, Oregon as a Non-profit organization (under I.R.S. form 501-C3) whose objectives are:

• To disseminate information on rhododendron and azaleas
• To operate display and test gardens
• To register names of the new hybrids under the International Code of Nomenclature
• To promote and develop in all possible ways, interest in the growing and culture of rhododendrons and azaleas
