Ansgar Duemchen
A native of Germany, Ansger Duemchen has been a music professional for over 15 years.
He studied baroque trumpet with Edward H. Tarr at the Schola Cantorum
Basiliensis (Basel, Switzerland), and performed many baroque cantata concerts
in Europe.
In addition to being a founding member of the Seattle Trumpet Consort, Ansgar's United States performances on baroque trumpet include concerts with the Seattle Baroque Collective and the St. Mary Chamber Orchestra in Littleton, Colorado.
Ansgar is also an active freelance player on valved trumpets and cornet. He currently leads the Dixieland group Dr. D & the Dixie Dogs, plays Eb cornet with Puget Brass, and performs with other Seattle area ensembles. When living in Germany in the 1990s he performed with groups such as Southwestgerman Radio Symphony Orchestra in Baden-Baden, the Suedwestdeutsche Philharmonie Pforzheim and the Chamber Orchestra Rastatt. He has also conducted several city community bands in Southwest Germany.
Ansgar's university studies began at the Music Academy of Basel, Switzerland. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Music degree from Washington State University. His modern trumpet teachers have included Leonard Cecil, Mark Sykes, Gerald Webster, and Franc Pulcini.
Ansgar has served the music education needs of our area's youth since earning his Masters Degree in Music Education from Western Washington University in 2002. He currently teaches Band at Monroe Middle School.
