Seavy Meadows as an Urban Wildland -- Photos by Brian Lee

A hawk swooped out of the field while I was trying to photograph a passing Willamette & Pacific train that runs along the western border of Seavy Meadows. It landed on a streetlight for a few minutes, then swooped back down into the field, nabbing a mouse in the muddy grass. After tearing and consuming, it flew onto another streetlight where it preened and honed its beak on the metal pipe. In the photo below, if you look at the pipe directly below the hawk's head, the darker area is where the hawk was rubbing his beak
