PA Gov. Rendell is a Communist

I really used to like the like, but he is falling out of favor with me quickly.

Elimination or reduction of choice for no reason other than to fill the coffers of the government at the detriment of its citizens is usually called Communism - and that is what has been happening in the PA wine regulation industry for decades and decades.

I am sick of hearing that direct-to-consumer sales will put wine into the hands of minors in PA. The LCB of PA continues to tell us that this eveil will certainly happen if the state-run wine control industry does not handle all wine transactions.
This is despite the fact that NO MINOR IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would choose to drink wine over Peppermint Schnapps (ok, not a proven fact but pretty close :-), and despite the (more clearly proven) fact that NO OTHER STATE in the union that has had an issue with minors obtaining wine via a D2C system. Telling the citizens something that is untrue for no reason other than to fill the coffers of the government at the detriment of its citizens is usually called lying (but that one is a staple of politics no matter what the flavor...).

Who's a BIG WINNER today...?

I am on cloud 9. I finally know what it feels like to win a sporting event. For the first time in 33 years, I have cheered a favorite team to victory, AND THEY WON IT ALL. What a fantastic feeling...

There are many nay-sayers at the moment decrying the Steelers' victory, spewing "what-ifs" about how the game would have changed if the Refs had performed better. They're missing the point. Better officiating would not have improved the performance of the Seatle secondary or prevented their botched field goal attempts, nor could it have stopped the Steelers from pulling off the 3 or 4 big plays they converted to give them the victory. And it certainly did not detract from some of the most entertaining and emotional side stories ever attached to a Superbowl.

But I am totally and obviously biased. I've heard that the game was terrible, the officiating was terrible, the QBs were terrible, even the Stones were terrible. The only terrible things I noticed were the Terrible Towels waving my team onto TOTAL VICTORY!

Little China Search Engine

Those of you who know me also know that I've been grumbling about how big tech firms are treating China for some time - nice to see some positive momentum to help change that.
