VOTE NOW! SL BAND COULD OPEN FOR BON JOVI (not kidding)

Hi all - Urgent news here - I'm not sure how it happened, but the SL Band has been selected as one of the 10 semi-finalists in the Q102 "Have a Nice Gig" contest!!!

In summary: The top 5 bands to receive web votes on the Q102 website will play on July 8th at the Electric Factory concert hall in Philadelphia. The finalist from that show will open for Bon Jovi in Philadelphia one week later. The program is sponsored by Bon Jovi ans Saturn.

VOTE FOR US HERE: http://www.q102.com/pages/airstaff/booker/booker.html

That's pretty big news for us (and I think my wife is especially interested in the possibility of meeting Bon Jovi for some reason... :-), so I am trying to get the word out to as many people as possible. If you can, please visit the Q102 website and vote for Steve Liberace. Details are below, it will only take about 1 minute of your time.

You HAVE to hurry though, as they are only holding the voting for a few days.
Please support local music and vote as many times as you can and pass this on to your friends to have them vote. Please tell anyone you also think would be interested in vicariously living their rock star gig dreams through us!

THANKS!

How Deep the Rabbit Hole Goes...

Hi there... back from Vegas where we had an awesome time trolling the amazing, MATRIX-like fakery that is 'The Strip. ' The most fun we had was in catching up with the irrepressible Clan Lerza (Jack Daniels and Graham Crackers, anyone?) - many thanks to them for their hospitality and fascinating stories of local/national law enforcement, especially the of architecting OVLV. Paul - you magnificent bast**d! I read your book!!!

As many times as I've been to Vegas, I'm always amazed by the level of indirection to real life in general - though I am happy they toned down the ding-ding-DING!!! noises of the slot machines. If you have about $3000.00 USD to spare, you can buy yourself a nifty helmet signed by the entire 2005/6 Superbowl Champion(TM) Pittsburgh Steelers. If you have $30.00 USD to spare, you can gamble (and lose), like we did! Anyway, pics are up. I also highly recommend KA for amazing (though expensive) visual splendor.

And finally - tickets for the SL Band show at MilkBoy Coffee House on July 21st will be available via the web.

Later!

Only in Vegas

Greetings from Las Vegas!
I guess the Liberace lineage is strong on the West Coast as well...

Danke Schoen & Vegas, Baby, Vegas

Hi - a very quick post to thank the boys in Hake & Jarema for letting me sit-in at the Four Dogs Tavern this weekend (I highly recommend the Wild Game Meatloaf). Excellent times!

Off to Vegas-Baby-Vegas for a few days, will post more (as well as any pics that are noteworthy - and legally responisble enough - to post publicly). Don't forget to donate. Cheers!

Pre-Solsticity

Happy birthday to William Taylor Shellenberger!

Another year, another Summer Solstice festival - and a fine festival it was yesterday in what had to be as near a perfect day as can be had in these parts. This time they even had free beer from one of their sponsors, Victory Brewing Co (see inset pic at right). Bendertown is also the most impressive party tent on the East Coast... What more can I say about Solstice that hasn't already been said? For me, there are 4 absolute truths to Solstice:
  1. I will have an awesome time and see/hear/jam with some very talented bands, with a crowd that is fun with (little or) no trouble
  2. Jerry will forget my name at some point during the day
  3. By the end of the night, someone will block in my car in a manner that I could not have predicted earlier
  4. I will not get to camp out and will have to leave "early" because of some scheduling conflict (after 5 years, this one has to be my fault somehow)
I should take this opportunity to remind you that I'll be performing with the Steve Liberace Band at MilkBoy Coffeehouse on July 21. This is an all-ages show, so no booze - but they do have awesome coffee and desserts and a great atmosphere. It will also be an all-originals gig. Tix are $10 and if you buy one from me, you will also receive a free copy of Steve's Rock Star Fantasy Land CD. I leave you with a 70s-style Rawk Star pic of Hake & Jarema during their evening show at Solstice - enjoy...

Poppin' Pils

Has it really been this long since my last post? Has time actually gone by that quickly? Did I ever dance? Was I ever Geisha...?

Anyway... just finished up a great holiday weekend of jams with the venerable SL Band boyz, a splendid time was had and as one of my old instructors used to say, "we played some burnin' sh*t!" Most of the gigs were in support of Steve's new CD, with the Flying Pig show being particularly memorable as it was sponsored by Pilsner Urqell.

Sponsorship has many privileges, not least of which is getting to drink Pilsner Urqell all night while making friends with the Pilsner Urqell Girl (see inset pic of our percussionist, the irrepressible Steven Pompeo, with his new P.U.G. friend). Next gigs for me are June 9 & 10, with SL Band at Jitters and then with SL (and maybe others!) the 2006 Summer Solstice festival, respectively - I hope to see you there. Speaking of SL Band, I also should mention that I have pre-sale tickets available for our upcoming show at MilkBoy Coffee House on July 21 - contact me if you'd like to purchase one. For $10, you get admission to the all ages show at Milk Boy as well as a copy of our 2003 release "Rock Star Fantasy Land" on CD. Rawk On!
